After the large fight where she left me, I picked up her wedding ring. It had a large and flashy diamond that stuck out like a sore thumb. My large income allowed me to pay over 100,000 dollars for her ring. A purely material thing.

I sat at the kitchen table in tears. I hadn't cried in years. Not even when Suguru died. In that instance I at least had closure. Now I was sitting at the kitchen table with super glue and tweezers, trying desperately to fix her ring. Not so I could give it to her as soon as possible, but after the battle with Sukuna--so I could prove her wrong.

I didn't sleep at all that night, which arguably affected my performance the next day. I say performance because the following day, preform was all I did. Yes, I fought with everything I had, but I didn't let my emotions slip.

She wasn't even there. She had likely run away out of fear of the results of the battle.

I realized as soon as I fired the first shot, that even with Megumi's techniques, the distance between Sukuna and my skill was not even close. What he lacked in skill he made up with pure strength, and what he lacked in pure strength he made up with skill. There was no confidence in him, but instead just knowledge of his own strength. He knew he wasn't any stronger than he was, which was the strongest, but he also knew he wasn't weaker.

While I was battling my own insecurity, he was stable in the recognition of his own abilities.

I thought I maybe had a small, maybe even insignificant edge over him when I destroyed Mahoraga. The beastly creature had taken up most of my energy, and the thing had died with my ancestor with the six eyes and limitless. I was still alive at this point, which encouraged me.

I began to get cocky. I thought of my wife. I was going to give her the ring now covered in super glue, blood, sweat, and tears, and rub it in her face. Then maybe fuck her.

It was ironic however, that as soon as the thought crossed my mind, and my victory was in sight, I could no longer think.

Everything went black.

And just like that I was dead.
