Nearly empty was the street that led to the Survey Corps barracks. Y/N had never felt so warm. despite the frigid temperatures. Not even the ache in her ankle bothered her as much as before. Being with him seemed to go by in the blink of an eye. The silence that grew between them was peaceful. Only the sound of footsteps echoed along the stone path beneath them. They leisurely walked down the narrow passageway and entered the headquarters building. At last, they rounded the corner of the Levi room floor, where Y/N and all the other superiors are situated. Just as he was about to ask her what she was doing, she abruptly stopped at the corner. His curiosity was sparked, and he asked her questions at last.

"Exactly, what is your plan?" He tilted his head and waited for her answer.

Biting her lip, she appeared to be contemplating her next move.

"I will just drop it off by the front door quickly and run." She answered with determination firing up in her eyes.

"I don't think that..." Just as he was about to give her his piece of advice. She hushed him. He did not have a chance to finish the sentence, as she commanded him to keep quiet.

"Shhh. Commander, he will hear us!"

In a quiet gesture, she raised a finger to her lips, causing him to look at her in disbelief. However, she knew she did not have much time to explain her grand scheme to him. She was aware that she had to take action now or never. Thus, she made the hasty decision to grab a bag from Erwin's grasp. And with that, she shot straight for Levi's front door.

Given that it was dinnertime, she hoped he was in the mess hall. Putting down the bag silently, she ran back towards her commander as quickly as she could, despite her injured ankle.

Unfortunately, the door swung open almost right away.

"Who the hell is it?!"

Emerged from behind the door was Captain Levi, his face contorted in annoyance. Luckily, she turned the corner right before he could see her. However, not looking at where she was, she crashed right on Erwin's chest. He caught her in his arms just in time before he lost her balance.

.........................

Their eyes locked as she lifted her head to look at him.

"Sorry, Commander." She whispered in alarm.

Before he could respond, the silence was broken by Levi's indignant voice once more.

"Tch, stupid brat!"

The voice caused them to break the present moment. Y/N then glanced back and saw that her Captain had already taken the bag and closed the door.

With delight, she whispered, "Mission completed!"

Frightened by being caught, she quickly turned around, forgetting she was still in his arms. She is now facing his intimidating glare. His gaze remained fixed on her, his thick eyebrows furrowing as though he were questioning her current actions. As he lowered his face to meet hers suddenly footsteps sounded down the hallway. Erwin was about to respond, but she silenced him once more. Without hesitation, she grabbed his hand and half dragged him towards his quarter. With great force, she pushed the door open, yanked him inside with all her might, and shut it after him. With a ragged breath, she rested her back against the shut door, her hand crutched on her chest.

Erwin who had no idea of what just happened was standing beside her, holding hands. She hastily released his hand as she finally felt the heat seep through her skin like a lightning bolt. He was finally able to straighten his uniform and correct his posture after being pulled around like a ragged doll by his subordinate. He slowly stalked over to her, his intimidating frame towering over her frightened form. He then bent down toward her and narrowed his eyes threateningly. A second later, a low, chilling voice rumbled above her.

"What do you think you are doing?"

"I am a commander of the Survey Corps, and you shut me up twice. I guess the role is quite reversed here."

He tried to remain more impassive, but the more nervous she got, the more adorable she looked. Thus, he found it hard to suppress his smile at her expression. At the sight of him smiling, she let out a giggle, which made him pause in surprise. His attempt to appear intimidating was undone by the smile that curled up his lips.

"By the way, we don't have to run away from anyone since I am..."

"A Commander of a Survey Corps..." She playfully finished his sentence.
An incredulous look crept up on his well sculpt face. He then continued to scolded her hoping she would find him intimidating somehow.

"Miss, you and your smart mouth might need a little discipline." He sternly replied.

Despite his serious tone, he ended it with a playful smirk.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

There was a knock on the door. They immediately break their stances.

"Erwin, are you in there?" It was none other than Hange.

"Yes, Hange, come in." He responded calmly, trying to mask any suspicion.

"Ahhhhh, I thought I saw you guys down the hall. What were you guys doing back there?" Hange fired out a series of questions as soon as she barged in.

"Nothing!" They instantaneously replied in unison.

"Hmmmm, you guys sound very very suspicious..." Hange is now staring them dead in the eyes.

"Do you need something, Hange?" Erwin broke the silence while gracefully walking back to his desk.

"I was looking for Y/N. We are about to start the prototype experiment."

"Well, ok, let's go then, Hange." Y/N said it so quickly, she didn't even breathe.

"Alright then!" Hange happily agreed.

"Uh, one thing before we go. I'm not sure if you noticed, but you still have Erwin's coat on you." Hange's narrowed eyes were questioning her suspiciously.

Y/N's face turned bright red, she forgot all about his coat. Frantically, she took off his coat as if it had caught on fire and hung it back on the coat hanger.

"Thank you for the coat, Commander."

She uttered her word of thanks without even looking at him.

Hange watched them exchange their odd behavior for a moment before deciding to move on with her task.

"See you later then, Erwin."

He nodded softly. Then the two of them gave him a salute and departed the room.
