Chapter- 9

Rani's POV:

"Rocky I need to...." I said and he cut me off "Not now chinna I will talk to you later," he said. He kissed me on the forehead and left. I looked at my gift and sighed. Today was Rocky's birthday and I had bought him a necklace. I graduated from college studying for a nursing BA and started working in a hospital after completing the course. I had not studied 12th grade and directly went for a nursing course. I was saving money for a gift for Rocky's birthday but he did not have the time. I tried talking to Rocky but he never had the time. Even for my graduation, he was not present and it hurt me a lot. I kept the box outside and decided to just stay in my room for the time being. I couldn't sit there peacefully and I decided to call Rocky and talk to him. "Hello Rocky," "Yes? Chinna?" He asked sounding hurried. "When are you coming back home?" "Probably night don't wait for me k?" He said and hung the call up not waiting for me. I sighed putting the land phone down. I looked at the gold necklace. Usually after marriage the girl's family gifts the groom a gold necklace. I have no family to do so. So I decided to gift him the necklace. I decided to stop being depressed and start decorating the house. 

"Mallamma ma bega madu Rocky vegavagi barrutane," (Mallamma do it fast Rocky will come soon,) I said and Mallamma nodded. I hung the balloons and sighed heavily. I was finally done with the work. I decided to call Rocky for one last time. Just to know when he would be coming back. "Hello Rocky," "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT I'M BUSY CAN'T YOU TAKE A HINT AND STOP BEING SO ANNOYING," he yelled over the phone making me flinch. I was so shocked that tears clouded my eyes and it started trailing down my face. "S-SORRY," I said my voice coming out groggy. I quickly hung the call up and sat down on the bed tears trailing down my face. I buried my face in my knees and started crying harshly. "Madam," Mallamma tried to comfort me and I jerked her hands off my shoulder. "DON'T TOUCH ME," I screamed. "Madam calm down," "GET OUT," I said. "Please," I pleaded and she sighed walking out. People might think that I am dramatic but what left me humiliated was the way the people looked at me as they heard Rocky shouting at me. I looked at the bangle that Rocky bought for me. The anger and sadness I felt doubled and I started taking it off. Because of the strength some of them broke piercing my skin but I did not care. I threw the bangles down and screamed frustrated. I didn't know when but I fell asleep soon on the bed my blood spilling on the bedsheet painting it red.

Rocky walked in and saw that the entire mansion was in darkness. He searched for the switch and turned it on. His eyes widened when he saw the decoration. It was true that he felt angry when Rani called him repeatedly. But he didn't know it was for this. It was only then that he remembered that it was his birthday. Rocky does not have the time to spend with Rani. He saw a jewellery box laying on the table. He took it confused and when he opened it his eyes widened. It was the gold chain Rani bought for him.

He felt guilt eat him up as he kept the chain back inside. He went up to their room and nervously opened the door. He prayed that Rani wasn't too angry. His chest tightened when he saw the scene. It was Rani sleeping tears dried up on her cheeks and blood dried up on her wrist. He heard something crushing under his foot and found the bangles he gave her. He sighed before going to the bed. He touched her cheeks wiping the tears away. She moved in her sleep. As she felt feather like touches on her wrist she opened her eyes slowly. She softly smiled at him not having a clue but jerked her hand away when she realised who it was. She sat up and glared at him. "What do you want?" "Chinna I am sorry," he said and she turned her face away. "You insulted me infront of all the workers," she said. "I know and I am sorry," he said. She didn't mind him and he sighed. "Chinna I really am sorry but I was in a very important in meeting when you called and I guess I took the anger out on you," he said and she sighed. "It's okay I guess me reacting this way was unnecessary," she said. He took her bloody hand and touched it making her hiss. He glared at her slightly before standing up from the bed and going to the drawer. He took the first aid from the drawer and went toward her. Taking her hand in his he started treating her wound. 

Rani woke up the next morning hearing loud clamours outside. She shivered when the cold morning breeze hit her exposed waist. Black hair fell out of her bun covering her face. She tucked her hair behind her ear. She saw many people gathered around the mines making her confused. Going down the stairs she walked towards the mine wondering what the problem was about. She saw the people shouting with a fearful expression on their faces. She saw Farhan standing on the top. "Why are you guys so scared of this?" He said. "We won't go inside the mines," all of them shouted fearfully. Suddenly Rocky came out from the crowd making Rani sigh proudly. "There goes all the fear,"
