She went in front of Rocky looking down on the floor. Rocky furrowed his eyebrows getting concerned for her. "Rocky," she asked. "Yes Rani?" "Are you going to Banglore?" She asked drawing circles with her foot on the ground. "Yes," he said plainly. She snapped her head up and said "Don't go," she said. "Why?" "What if something happens to you?" She asked. "Nothing will happen to me Rani," Rocky said. "Rocky please don't go," she begged. "I listen to you when you tell me what to do," "Rani who do you think you are?" Rocky asked catching her by surprise. "What?" "Who do you think you are?" He asked and she stared at her with wide eyes. "Are you my lover?" He asked and her face flushed. "My wife?" He asked. "I protect you as a part of the promise my mother made to yours," he said and she bit her tongue. "Don't consider that as license to control my life," he said. "Fine," she said calmly. She wasn't going to cry for him. "Do whatever you want," she said. "But if you plan on coming back to Bombay then you won't see me here," "I will go somewhere else," she said and Rocky looked away not caring about anything. "Or Shetty is going to marry me off to someone and guess what I am going to accept the proposal," she said calmly and Rocky glared at her. Rani had no plan of that. She didn't want to get married. This was to piss Rocky off. She walked away not caring about the fuming man standing behind. "Chachu did you hear what she said?" He asked. "If I move away from here for two years she is going to marry someone else it seems," "I will kill that man on the first day and take her away," he spoke. "Rocky you know Rani is an ambitious child," "She isn't going to do that," "She got an offer from a london university days ago but she considered staying back for you," chachu said and Rocky felt the surge. "I guess she is planning to go now," he said. "They had already send her the ticket and visa and everything else," Chachu said. "She was planning to reject that offer?"he asked. "Yes," Chachu said. "Well, then I guess she has to," Rocky said.  Chachu stared at Rocky with wide eyes. "When I come back from Banglore I will take her with me," he said. "I have a plan before I go there," he said. "Rocky stop being so selfish and let her live," chachu said angrily. "If it means I can have her all to myself then yes," he said. "Do you think she is going to listen to you after what you said?" Chachu asked and Rocky went silent. "Let her go and after you are done with whatever it is that you are planning take her back," he said and Rocky nodded. Rocky went into Rani's room to see her packing her things and he sighed. "So you are going huh?" He asked. "I already rejected the offer that the university send me so I am going back," "Back to where?" "My father's house," she said and his eyes widened. "Are you seriously going back to that man?" "You don't know who he is. Now he send me a letter saying he wanted me there," she said. "Rani you are thinking rashly," he said. "My father realized his mistake and I am not dumb enough to go trap myself there if I know he can kill me," "My father is bedridden and it's my brother that send me this letter," "Who's your brother?" He asked. "I have no plans on telling you about what's going on in my life," "You go your way and I would have no one to take care of me," she said. "You settled your future and now it's my turn to do so," she said. "All I can say is I am going to Banglore but far away from where you are going," she said. "Rani you don't have to do this to get back at me," he said and she scoffed. "It isn't to get back at you," "Who are you to me?" She asked. "My lover?" "My husband?" She said mockingly. "You don't have to protect me anymore because of the promise your mother made to mine," "If you don't already know I turned 18 today," she said keeping the bag aside. 'Today was her birthday?' He asked himself. 'Shit,' "Today the men of my brother will be here to pick me so I hope you live a good life Rocky," "Rani don't you think that you are taking this too seriously," "Rocky if you kindly told me that you have to leave I would have listened but the words you said showed me my place," she said. Before she could walk away he grabbed her hand and she glared at him angrily trying to remove his grip from her hand. "Listen Rani I was already very angry that time and when you said those things I couldn't control my mouth. You know that you and chachu are the only family I have," he said and she pouted. "I am not going to stop you from going but I just don't want you to hold a grudge against so I am sorry," he said and she smiled slightly. "It's okay just don't repeat it," she said and he nodded. He started untying the thread from his hand. "I want you to have this for yourself until we meet again," he said. "I can't Rocky your amma gave this for you," she said. "Please," he begged. "Fine," she sighed. He brought the thread to her neck. "Wait I will tie it myself," she said panicking. Rocky glared at her making her stop and stand there quietly. He tied the thread around her and she touched the necklace slightly. Suddenly they heard a car outside the house and she sighed. "I am sorry for saying that," "Whatever the cost you have to fulfill your mother's wish," "I don't know what was the promise you made to her but you have to fulfill it," she said. She took the bag and walked away from there. "Oh don't worry chinna I will fulfill the promise I made to my mother," he said. " Today it was just a mere thread and the next time it's going to be a real thaali," he promised. He took the anklet that he had stolen from her years ago and kissed it.
