"No i'm telling you that if i were an animal i would be a deer. you guys can all disagree but it's the truth" sofie said while hopping out of the travel bus. the girls finally had there game today and were getting prepared. the girls couldn't stop laughing the entire ride but something was off about paige. once the girls were out of the car and not all bundled together, sofie rushed to paige's side catching up with her speed.
"Hey." i leaned closer into paige's neck. she turned around abruptly but avoided eye contact. her eyes seemed like they were losing their blue-ness or something. "Hi." she says under her breath as if she couldn't speak loud enough. paige's hands were tangled together as she messed around with the ring on her thumb and the hair tie on her wrist. "paige are you ok? i can tell that something's wrong" i wrapped my arm around her waist fiddling with the drawstring of her sweatpants. paige continued to look down answering with a soft 'mhm' which was really just not believable. i sighed and tightened my grip on her stomach a bit more to show her that i'm here for her. paige scooted away a bit forcing me to release my grip on her waist. a confused look grew on my face but i tried to take it as a joke. i get closer to paige while we are still walking a slow pace my hand creeps up against her back again. before i could even reach her actual waist and forcefully pushes my hand off and gives me a 'fucking stop' kind of look. my eyes widened and built up a couple tears. i part ways with paige and walk up to kk.
"hey is something wrong with paige? she's not talking to me and like is refusing to let me hold her" i said with concern in my voice. kk shook her head "she seems fine to me. i dunno" kk shrugged her shoulders and got more a hold on her bag. i took a couple deep breaths and walked next to nika. "hey neeks." i say with a lower tone that usual. nika looks up from her phone and her eyes light up a bit. "heyy sof. you good" the words roll off her tongue with a thicker accent than usual. "yeah i'm fine. just confused". nika tilts her head and shoved her phone in her pocket to gain more focus. "why?"
by the time sofie was done ranting about what happened the team had reached stadium they were playing at. the girls went straight to the lockers and started getting changed into their jerseys. sofia couldn't help but stare at paige for every second of every minute before the game started. she kept thinking about it she did something wrong. a couple tear kept building up and falling down her face falling onto the floor making a significant mark. the brunette quickly wiped her own tears and shook her self out of these negative emotions trying to forget about what happened. she couldn't be overthinking before a game let alone during a game.
soon enough i was bounce passed the ball from caroline and score our last point. the buzzer goes off and we won the game against ohio state buckeyes. the croud jumped and screamed with joy. i looked around and suddenly i realised that absolutely no one was looking at me. no one was coming up to me for a hug. no one was trying to talk to me. there was one side of the court that the team headed towards to meet fans and get pictures. i grabbed my water bottle and sat down to catch my breath and to try to ignore the fact that for some reason, no one was talking to me. after the girls were done getting pictures and signing things we all went back to the lockers to change. once we were all ready we went back home to relax.
"y'all mary just texted me and said that there's a party soon. should we go?" paige broke the silence that was filling the the entire house. most of the girl were in the living room exept for quadence and ice. everyone started shaking theyre heads up and down and throwing around 'yesss's and 'for sure's. i decided to keep my own silence going and run off to my room to get ready. i threw on some messy eyeliner and a bit of foundation and blush. usually i would've been a clean girl, a particularly nice and calm girl who would drive everyone home but it looks like someone else would have to fill that spot today.
