Chapter 23

It's been a few weeks since I meet the family and the prank happened. Everyones been a bit kinder and around more, well other than Mia she's starting to show her true colors by ridiculing me. It felt sufficating being surrounded by all of them so I've decided to head to Jamie's.

Jamie lives in a poor neighborhood and goes to our school through a scholarship. I reached her house and a thin and tierd looking women came out. "Hi you must be Jamie's friend," the women asked. I nodded my head and she told me to head inside and up the stairs. I did as the women said I found a door and my instinctstold me to go inside.

I knocked and the door swung open to reveal Jamie curled up in a pile of blankets. I looked around her room and it was almost bare except for a dest and her book bag. "Glenda? What are you doing here," Jamie asked in a quite whisper.

It was then I looked back and saw that her face was extremely bruised. She winced as she leaned on her arm and I saw blood on some of the blankets. "Jamie what happend," I quickly asked.

Just as I asked I heard the door behind me bang shut and lock. Dread, that's what I felt as cold sweat started to appear. Jamie hurried of the bed and grabbed me pulling me behind her. "Aw is little Jamie trying to protect her friend," a man sneered. As I look I saw that he was tall and fat, his teeth rotted and yellowed, his head balding. "I just wanted to give Glenda a warm welcome like her step-mother asked he said addressing Jamie.

He then looked at me up and down licking his lips. "My you have grown up haven't you. I haven't seen you since the day you drowned with your mama," the man said as my brain screamed at me to run. The man then pulled out a knife and Jamie whimpered. "Don't worry Jamie it's not for you this time," he said with a evil smirk.

"Jamie, Run," she whispered to me. Jamie grabbed her hard covered history book and jumped on the man. She started swinging the book at him as he tried to shake her off. I ran as fast as I could out of the room praying Jamie would make it.

I heard a loud thud and then the man chasing me, however he defiantly wasn't a runner. I made it outside the building and the man followed. I was about to run down the street when I tripped on a root. The man lunged at me but then a bang rang out in the air. The man on me screamed and nearly drowned out the sound of sirens.

Three cop cars and a ambulance pulled up. "Ma'am everything is going to be okay can you tell me what happened." I explained everything I knew to the man. Two police officers went inside and a few seconds later the paramedics were rushing in. As they came out carring a stretcher I saw her. Jamie had multiple stab wounds and her head was bleeding heavily.

The police tried to lead me to the car but I kept resisting until one of them asked if I wanted to ride in the ambulance woth my friend. I was quick to say yes and went with Jamie to the hospital. Everything was a blur.
