Chapter 25

Glenda's pov:

It had been a long week of staying beside Jamie while she was in the hospital. She woke up two days ago and the police came in to question her. They asked her who she was and how old, She told them her name was Jasmine and that she thinks she is fourteen however she didn't know her birthday.

The said that they were working on finding her family but it was going to take some time. Jamie only smiled and assured them that she was fine with waiting, that she had been waiting for almost ten years what's a little longer going to do.

I was brought out of my musing by Jamie's social worker entering the room. "Hello would you mind leaving the room so that I can talk with Jasmine," the thin and small elderly man asked. Just as I was standing to leave she reached out and pulled me to sit next to her.

"You can say whatever you need to, WITH Glenda in the room," she said with false confidence. I saw how her face was a little pale and how she shook it would be a long road to recovery for her.

"Alright if that's what you wish Jasmine," the man said, "We have located your closest living relative." She just nodded for him to continue. "His name is Hayden Leef his is your cousin." I could she in Jamie's eyes the war between fear and hope.
"T-thank yo-u," she said to him.

"What happened to her parents," I asked him. He looked at Jamie and his eyes showed sympathy. "Her mother was killed the same day Jamie was taken. Her father then died in a car wreck," he said before leaving the room.

I saw how Jamie just kinda shut down and refused to talk or look at me. As she into my eyes I relized she was stuck rembering something. Once she cane out of it she broke down sobbing almost hyperventilating. "It all my fault, it's all my fault," it only got worse as she started hitting the heals of her hands against her head. It wasn't long before a nurse walking by noticed and got a doctor to sedate her.

It was later in the evening when the doctor came in and informed Jamie that her cousin would be here in the morning. Jamie just nodded before curling herself into my side. I sat there stroking her hair till she fell asleep and at some point I followed.

*Time skip to the next day

It was now noon and me and Jamie had played a ton of games on my phone. She finally started smiling. The door opened and in walked a nurse, "Jamie your cousin is here and will be coming to see you in a bit," Jamie nodded before hiding behind me.

It wasn't much longer before her cousin entered the room. I watched as Hayden's eyes filled with tears. So this was the girl cousin he was telling me was the same age. "I'm going to go, Jamie you have my number call me whenever." She looked panicked but I didn't give her the chance to stop me. Time for some quality family bonding for her.

I decided to call Livivo to take me home but he told me he couldn't. Instead he was going to have someone else pick me up. I tried to ask for more detail, however he only told me I would know who it was when I see them.
