A day with Layla

Demi POV

   I didn't show up to Lucas apartment last night. Well I did but I couldn't get myself to get off my car and go up to his unit. I sat in that parking lot having a war with myself. Going back and forth about if I should go see Lucas or not. I ended up leaving. I took too long to make a decision and it was getting late. Lucas apartment wasn't too far from the house. A few tears did fall from my eyes on that drive home. I think the number one reason I didn't go to his apartment was because of Wilmer like we just "broke up" officially yesterday and yea sure the next BIG reason was because of Miley. I couldn't break the number 1 girl code. Wilmer did call me a few times throughout the day but I ignored them all.

   The next morning I headed downstairs to the kitchen dressed and ready by 8am. Layla was in the kitchen already cooking.

"Good morning" I said entering the room

"Good morning D. Hungry? I'm almost done" She said kinda in a good mood, but she was always in a good mood and that's exactly what I needed right now.

"Y-yea I can eat" I said and as I spoke the door bell rang. It kinda spooked Layla and I. No one really used the door bell.

"I wonder who that could be" Layla said

I turned around quickly and headed towards the front door. My guess there was only two people that could be and I needed to get rid of them before anyone sees. As I got closer to the giant glass front door I can clearly see who it was.

But to my luck. Nick was coming out of the home gym and got to the front door before I did. Luckily Lucas showing up this early in the morning is easier to explain then if Wilmer where to have shown up.

"Hey who order a doctor" Nick said joking opening the door as Lucas was in his scrubs

"Hey" Lucas said sounding nervous as he saw me. I needed to not make this awkward and not let Nick get suspicious

"Lucas, what are you doing here! It is so good to see you. How was your New Years?" I said putting on my best act.

"Umm it was good yea I was just in the neighborhood and thought I'll stop by to see if anyone was home" Lucas said

"Well come on in" Nick said opening the door more so Lucas can step inside

"Layla making breakfast are you hungry" I said as I fiddled with my eyes

"Y-yea I can eat. My shift doesn't start for another couple hours" Lucas said as he and Nick followed me to the kitchen

"So what did you do for new years" Nick asked Lucas and I

"Oh so now your talking to me" I said to Nick

"No I'm asking Lucas. Lucas how was your new years" Nick asked

"I-it's wass" Lucas spoke slowly Nick didn't see but Lucas looked at me and I looked at him eager on what he was gonna say. Nick was walking in front of us. "A good new years. I had to work a 12 hour shift" Lucas said

"Are you working another 12 hour shift tonight" I asked Lucas for a couple reasons. We entered the kitchen and I sat at the Island. Nick went to get some juice out of the fridge.

"I am. We are short staffed right now. It is a long story. Hey Layla. How are you" Lucas said and went towards her to give her a quick hug

"Hey, Happy New Years" Layla said to him

"Happy new years" Lucas said and took my eyes off him before he noticed. He came towards the chair next to me at the island and took a seat. Man my heart was beating.
