Yeji sat quietly in her room, scrolling through a heap of videos her mother had sent her. Most of them were old people jokes, but some of them were edits of her and her members.
She always cringed watching these videos, but she watched them to please her mom.
After scrolling through about six videos of monkeys eating bananas, she came to a video of her and Jungkook. They were on the set for one of their pictorial shoots from late 2017.
The video was cute, and it brought a smile to her face. But what really caught her attention was the song.
After inserting the video into a song recognizer app, she discovered it was called "Popular Song," an American song by MIKA and Ariana Grande. She knew about both artists.
She held her phone tightly, replaying the edit over and over again. Then, under her breath, she quietly began to sing a line of the song.
After what felt like ages of sitting there and repeating the same line, she suddenly threw the covers off her legs and made a beeline for her door.
"Jungkook!" She yelled, swinging the door open. She headed down the hallway, then began vigorously knocking on the maknae line's door.
Taehyung eventually answered the door with an unpleasant face. He eyed the brunette up and down, wondering why she was suddenly so energetic at nearly 11 at night.
"Is Jungkook in there?" Yeji asked, leaning her body against the doorway. Taehyung turned and said something, then Jungkook walked up.
"Yeah?" He murmured, focused on his phone screen.
"Kook. Let's record a cover together."
Upon hearing this, his eyes immediately flew up to Yejis face. "A cover?"
"Mhm. Of this song." She pressed play on the video then held the song up to his face. He seemed confused as first, but once it got to the prechorus, his face began to hint that he was enjoying it.
Once the edit was finished, Yeji turned off her phone and shoved in into her pajama pockets. Jungkook hummed a part of the song then asked, "Who is it by?"
"MIKA and Ariana Grande," Yeji replied. When he didn't say anything back, she added, "We can release it for Festa. For the fans, you know?"
