"What do you think will happen once we defeat Diablo?"

Lyndon asked as he nudged the corpse of a demon, it instantly turned into ash and blew away. Some of it right into his face. He began sputtering and wiping at it in a frantic disgusted display leaving streaks across his face. I stifled a laugh as he used his sleeve to clean the rest off. "Ugh. Tasted like charred chicken...should I be concerned that it was in my mouth or that its taste resembled chicken?" His expression turned into one of absolute disgust and confusion. I didn't give him a response to the chicken.

"When he's defeated I'd wager that people will start to rebuild and continue with their lives, as the world works." I picked up some scattered gold pieces, the demonic red glow of corruption and holy lights mixing into a odd glimmer, "It'll keep going no matter what happens.".

Lyndon booted another demon, this one remained a solid corpse, as he picked up the broken hilt of a sword and swung it around. "Truer words I've heard but it's never as simple as that now is it?" He thrust the hilt around fending off an imaginary enemy, "I was thinking more of a big party with rows of food, loud music, dancing and drinking till the sun comes up!" He continued brandishing the hilt around till he "struck" a winning blow and his opponent was bested, he threw his arms up in victory and gave a bow to an imaginary audience and me. With a smile he threw the hilt across the room, it landed with a loud clattering sound, the noise fading down the passages.

We both stood very still, muscles tense as we waited for some reaction, I tightly gripped my axe in anticipation. But no response came from the darkness of the corridors. We both let out a sigh, I gave Lyndon the evil eye for his bone headed thought of throwing a loud item. He scratched his head uncomfortably and averted his gaze, "Well that could have gone south on us real quick! Best be moving on before something gets the upper hand on us!"

"You need to think more before you act on your senseless whims." I said, flicking his forehead, "It's best we are the ones not taken by surprise." He rubbed the mark on his head and gave a pout, "Now when have I ever acted on senseless whims?" He crossed his arms and gave me a "serious" look. I raised my eyebrow in a questioning manner at the comment, "You must have hit your head one too many times in our adventures, you seemed to have gained amnesia," I gave his head another flick, "How about that time with the cursed chest? Big, shiny, chest in the middle of a clearing and you saunter up to it trying to pry it open?" He gave a nervous laugh as he scratched his head again, "Well...that was a heat of the moment idea!" I frowned at that, "Mmhm." I adjusted my grip on the axe and began walking down the corridor behind us that hadn't been searched yet.

"Surely you've had your fair share of senseless ideas that I don't know of? Everyone does" Lyndon asked, reaching my side with a smug smirk on his face, "Nobody has the knowledge of the universe to know what will happen." True. But I would never admit any past faults to him. "The past is the past for anything and everything. Leave it behind you." I answered with. He raised his eyebrow, "Are you saying that to yourself or to me?" Stopping briefly I gave him a look. "Fine, fine! I'll leave your mysterious mishaps behind and continue on!" With a defeated sigh he plucked at his bow string, "How about the future then? Diablo is gone and parties everywhere! Surely there's something you want in the future?" I have not thought further into the future except whether I'll survive the next fight, such a luxury to think of the next day or the next meal.

"No." I said.

"No? Surely not! A house? Land? Family? A horse perhaps!" Lyndon listed on his fingers

"It's pointless to think of things such as those when they take such a long time to gain, death is around the corner for people like us." I rested my axe onto my shoulder as he looked at me.
