He walked into the house, in despair and  gloomy sadness, his wife instantly felt that gloomy aura.

"What is the matter, what happened"? She asked genuinely worried,

He sighed deeply as he dropped on the couch, she sat beside him and took his hand in hers stroking gently as she placed it on her laps,

"Tell me"

"I feel so useless" he said finally,

"You are not, why would you say that"? She asked,

"I lost my job, my boss fired me and now what am I going to do?, How will I provide for you and our child? How will we survive?" He asked, his voice getting teary

"Honey, don't worry too much, I don't know why this happened but God will make a way for us, where there is no way, I believe, don't worry okay"?

He nodded trying to believe her but he made up his mind to increase his hustle.

FLASHBACK

He was busy supervising and helping the workers when a newbie worker called him saying the boss had summoned him.

He went into the office,

"Good day Sir" he greeted with a smile, the man frowned,

"I will just go straight to the point, I am really sorry but I am cutting you of work" the man Said with an hard expression.

"What do you mean sir, I do not understand" he asked

The man sighed, "do you really want me to spell it out, you are fired from work meaning that you are no longer working here"

"But why" he asked genuinely confused,

The boss was speechless but he had to come up with a reason.

"It's be because we  we yes, we have a lot of workers and we are cutting some people off"

"Is that really the reason for firing me, I have been working hard with you for years, you can't just fire me without prior notice, it's not fair"

"Uhmm you should just leave before I call security" the man Said, he stood for two minutes just looking at his boss, he raised his eyebrows suspicious of his boss and wondering just why, then he turned around as he exited the site, meanwhile the boss was hyperventilating from his stare, he sighed deeply when he left, he knew he had just lost one of his best workers but he did this for love.

Meanwhile, the man left the workplace refusing to talk to any of the other men, even when they called out to him, he had gone into the office smiling and he came out with a frown and angry.

By the corner outside the gate stood Clarence, she had on a sad face but when he approached she changed it into a smirk, he glanced briefly at her, before facing front and walking fast away from there,

"Hey wait up" she ran after him, shouting untill he eventually turned giving her attention,

"What's the matter?" She asked,

"I got fired" he replied simply,

She held up a shaky smile,

"I know, baby if you want your job back you need to open up to me and accept me" she said trying to sound bossy,

Now he understood why he suddenly got sacked, Clarence planned this, she must have convinced her father, he smiled shaking his head,

"I will never accept you, I never want anything to do with you, you and your father can keep your stupid job" he said walking away from her, now angry.

Clarence was hurt by his words, she thought he would do anything to keep his well paying job, that was why she planned all this but it was all a waste, he was too proud to beg for mercy.

"Hey.... please wait..... Don't go..... please don't leave me...." She sobbed but he was gone, she had made a terrible mistake, she had lost the love of her life.

He cuddled closer into his wife, his head was on her laps and she was playing with his hair and massaging his head, he was enjoying this, he thought of work and what else to do to get money, he still had a lot of saved money but he wasn't going to completely depend on it. But for now he was going to enjoy the comfort of the woman he loved.

For the next few months they survived on his saved money, the little money from her business and the little he was earning from little works that he is was doing here and there, they certainly was in a bad patch of life but they knew that if they were together they would survive and thrive, so they continued to hustle together to get their daily bread.
