Chapter Song: Mr. Brightside - The Killers
With Max Lukas identified as a potential Unsub, the team delved into his background – a music producer with a checkered history of encounters with the law, and a married man with a record of infidelity, as captured by the elevator footage.
As they brought Lukas into the interrogation room with JJ, to see if a married woman would caught him off guard. However his cockiness persisted all interrogation. He even offered her 'a taste', which she used as fuel for the verbal humiliation he was about to experience.
Castle couldn't shake her skepticism. "He's too much of a dick to care if his affairs were exposed. I don't believe he's the murderer," she expressed to the team. "According to your profile, the Unsub was meticulously to prevent to be noticed; the murder scenes were acts of impulse but clean enough to not leave any evidence."
Something sparked on Emily's brain, "What if the Unsub is a woman. She thinks of everything that could go wrong and solves it."
"We are left with the wife," Morgan added, calling Garcia asking for the wife's background check.
"Sorry my chocolate fudge, Becca Lukas is clean, not even a speeding ticket. Never shown any signs of impulsiveness" Garcia explained
Castle and Reid, recalling the nannies' shared college experience, they asked at the same time "What about the nanny?" It struck them that while their nannies had a history together, the testimonials revealed a less-than-amicable relationship at work.
The realization hit them simultaneously. Castle explained, "Considering the history between them, it's possible that she, too, was one of Lukas's hookups, but this time it went horribly wrong."
Reid chimed in, "Maybe this affair gone wrong is what triggered these murders. We need to dig deeper into the nanny's background and her relationship with Lukas."
Morgan and Emily exchanged surprised glances, amused yet slightly unnerved by Castle and Reid's telepathic connection. Emily, adding a touch of humor, quipped, "Guess we'll have to get used to these big brains working in sync."
