Chapter Song: Training Season - Dua Lipa

The BAU fled to Chicago, ready to profile the killer. After delving deeper into the lives of the missing couples, they uncovered a common thread linking them all together - couples therapy. All of them were young married couples who were going through marital problems according to reports.

JJ furrows her brows as she reviews the case files, her sharp mind piecing together the puzzle. "Therapy... it's supposed to help mend relationships, not tear them apart," she muses aloud, her voice tinged with concern.

Reid nods in agreement, his mind already formulating theories. "Couples seeking therapy are often at a vulnerable stage in their relationship," he observes, his tone reflective. "It's a time of heightened emotion, of raw honesty. The Unsub could be exploiting that vulnerability, targeting couples in moments of weakness."

Emily leans forward, her expression thoughtful. "But why freeze the bodies? What does that achieve?" she wonders aloud, her eyes scanning the evidence for clues.

Castle taps her pen against the table, her mind racing with possibilities. "Freezing... a way to preserve, to hold onto something," she suggests, her voice growing more animated. "Perhaps the Unsub is trying to freeze these relationships in time, to preserve them in a state of perpetual conflict. Preventing them to reach the end."

Morgan nods in agreement, his expression serious. "So they freeze the bodies as a way to keep them trapped in a cycle of dysfunction that never ends" he concludes.

Investigating the therapist was next, Hotch decided that he should personally go check if this Dr. could be the Unsub or be involved somehow. However, him and JJ where taken to the main office. They were surprised by a lovely middle aged woman. Nothing like the profile they had described.

Dr. Gomez gladly cooperated. She explained how the news of the killings creeped her out and how the police had already interrogated her. Which was true, according to the report she gave her alibi and her office cameras proved her innocence. Nicely, she showed them her medical degrees and licenses; she also offered handing them the patients files. Clearly she displayed fright towards the fact that her patients were being murdered.

Hotch and JJ accepted all the offer but deep down they knew she wasn't the killer.

                                        ——

After sharing their discoveries with the rest of the team, they were left were they started. They knew therapy was the lead but the main link was already discarded. Emily suggested tracking posible victims that attended therapy there: 'couples with marital problems and no progress in therapy'.

To Castle that sounded like a lifetime...so she decided to take matters into her own hands. Picking up her cellphone, she dialed the therapist's office, her voice taking on a tone of uncertainty and distress as she pretended to be someone else. "Hi, I... I'd like to schedule an appointment," she said, her heart racing with adrenaline. "You see, I've been having some misunderstandings with my... boyfriend, Spencer."
