I lean close to the mirror as I apply the final layer of my mascara. I give a mental chuckle at the fish face I'm doing, something I think about every time I apply the black goo to my lashes.
Elijah shows up in my view in the mirror. He's holding up a pastel salmon Polo and a baby blue one with his eyebrows raised in question. I look carefully between the two, comparing the shades to his fair skin tone.
"Salmon," I finally decide, and his head bobs up and down in approval.
"I knew there was a reason I loved you," he grinned, heading back into the room, presumably to change into the chosen garment.
I give a dampened smile at his comment and do a final check in the mirror. My black cocktail dress hugs my curves nicely, the front and back being held together by a corset-like lace, and my copper hair looks smooth in its straightened high ponytail.
I chose to go with a black and silver smokey eye tonight, shaping my eyes in a cat-like manner. I feel confident in what I'm wearing. This outfit is definitely the boost I need to raise my spirits.

The party is in full swing by the time Elijah and I make it to the Alpha Delta Zeta frat house. Kai and I had agreed to just meet here. He said he doesn't want to have to wait on me for 'hours' just so I can 'look the same as always.' God, he is such a dick.
I drag Elijah into the kitchen area in search of a drink. If I have to spend time around all these insufferable and obnoxious frat boys and athletes, then I want to be at least a little buzzed.
I spot some bright green solo cups on the counter, thankfully still in the bag, and I make to grab one. "Do you want one, Ellie?"
"Yes please," he responds, bringing a bottle of vodka to the counter where I stand.
"What're our options for mixing?" I ask; I absolutely hate drinking it straight. He hands me a Dr Pepper as I'm finishing my question. He honestly knows me so well I think with a smile.
I finish mixing our drinks and hand Ellie his. He immediately takes a big gulp.
"Hey! We didn't even do cheers," I whine at him.
"That isn't necessary for mixed drinks Jenny."
I pout and take a swig of mine as well. The Dr Pepper doesn't really do anything to mask the burn of the alcohol., but today I don't mind it. The burn means that I'm about to have some fun.
" 'ey, I gotta go find Kai," I tell Elijah with annoyance. He gives me a thumbs up, downing the rest of his drink. I follow suit, "actually, I'm gonna take a shot and make another drink, then I'll go find him."
I make my second mixed drink and my shot. I knock it back, fighting the urge to gag. Elijah puts a hand over his mouth as he chuckles.
I give him a salute, leave the kitchen to enter the crowded living room. The couches are full of couples making out, there's an uproar around the pong table, and I can feel the bump of the base through the soles of my shoes.
I can tell I'm starting to feel the drink as I continue to sip from the solo cup. It's hard to see through all of the bodies, making it hard to find Kai. I make my way towards the stairs but stop before reaching them.
Kai is talking to a pretty blonde that I recognize to be Missy. His arm is on the wall above her head as they talk closely. I see her twirl her hair around her finger as she laughs at something he says. I leave once I see that Missy has put her hand on his chest while he grabs her hip.
Whatever.
I clear the rest of the cup and make my way right back to the kitchen. Grabbing the bottle of vodka, I don't even bother with the cup anymore. I drink straight from the bottle not even worried about the germs tonight. I think alcohol kills them anyway.
