Not How I Wanted

𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 4 : 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳

𝘵𝘸 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 : 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬, and 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯

This chapter is going to be much longer than usual as it covers every day of the week and there's just a lot happening this chapter. Also! As I did with roommates, Lake is a part of Lovejoy (replacing original) as its easier to write them detailed this chapter and just mention them throughout the rest than to write entirely new characters with the amount of background needed for them to make sense. I may make new eventually but for this chapter at least Lovejoy remains and Lake is in place of lead singer.

Vienna stares at Lake with anxiety and hope bubbling under the surface of their skin. The two were currently sitting in the studio that Lovejoy used to record all their music.

Lovejoy had a concert that would kick off another leg of a tour and Vienna was going to be left entrusted with the apartment. That is, after the concert.

You see the concert was at the end of the week, Halloween.  Also Vienna's actual 20th birthday.

And Lake had promised to spend the week celebrating it with them. Only under the circumstances that they would come practice at least Monday and Thursday at the studio and play the songs they had released as an opener for the concert.

Vienna tried not to choke on the anxiety of playing in front of a ton of people.

"We aren't gonna bite, Viea." Vienna scrunched her nose at Joe, shaking their head and pointing to Lake.

"Lake and my parents are the only ones that call me that."

Joe apologizes but Vienna shrugs it off, finally grabbing a guitar and making sure it's tuned.

She knew Joe meant well so she wasn't offended by it. She was happy to have the others willing to learn the instrumental part she couldn't perform on her own. Usually she had Loomis and Charlene's help at local gigs but with them both having a rehearsal the night of the concert, Vienna needed a band.

They were only playing three songs, Nervous Young Inhumans (where she would subtly announce how it's NOT about Cody and is in fact about a girl), and Vampire Empire (which IS about Cody). Vienna would be ending her set with a new song that only Lake had heard snippets of. It was another song written about the same girl nyi was about. The girl who also happens to be her best friend.

"What song you doing first?"

"N. Y. I, then Vampire Empire, and last one is a new one."

"Ooo, is it the one I've been hearing at 3 in morning for the last two days?"

Vienna glares slightly at Lake, causing him to laugh and take a picture on his phone.

"Please don't tell me you're going to use that against me later"

Lake didn't reply, simply shrugging with the smug little smile of his that made Vienna regret agreeing to do this concert.

Vienna sighs and starts doing a small vocal warm up. Once they feel ready, they confirm with the others they're ready.

Throughout the run throughs, Vienna got more excited and could barely contain the grins as Tommy filmed in the corner and Lake took pictures.
