Broken bonds & shattered hearts

Joel

05:15---I'm up---staring at the ceiling---smile on my face---mere seconds before my alarm clock went off. What a great day yesterday was. I had a warm feeling in my gut, I knew today, just like yesterday would be a day of significance, as I excitedly hopped out of bed and braced for the bathroom. Where I whistled One Republic's, I ain't worried song---while brushing my teeth and doing a bit of a dance.

"Every dang day I have to tell you!" As Trevor bypassed me doing an MJ step, in the bathroom and headed for my bed, while talking to himself. " Joel, wake up! You can't sleep all day, it's time to go to school!" As I moon walked out of the bathroom, fully dressed in my school uniform and braced for the day ahead.

"Wow. Who are you and what have you done to Joel?" Said an impressed and surprised Trevor.

"Good morning Trevor, how are you?" I asked rhetorically, still moonwalking as I headed into my room expecting no retort. I gracefully made my bed, with an enormous smile tugging at my lips. I packed my bookbag then made a brace for the kitchen, where I scrambled enough eggs to feed a village. Accompanied by some sizzling bacon, sweet orange juice and a lovely decorated setting and bit of plating. Gloria, Trevor and Sady were all surprised to see me in such a good mood. I think they were more surprised to see me cook, than anything. I don't think they actually knew I could. "Hello family, I'll see y'all after school, have a good one and... don't harsh the whistllllllllllle." I quoted one of the Teen Titans Go lines to Sady's amusement and approval. I waited patiently with a grin on my face for my transport, this time humming along to some Justin Bieber booming in my headphones. The last gift Mother got for me, my most prized and treasured possession. I protected them fiercely and cared for them immensely.

I bet I'll make a great mom one day : )

Loud honks accompanied my transport driver---Travis' minibus as he announced his arrival---even though he clearly saw me standing outside waiting for him. He boomed his old school house music, so loud that it woke all the people and their loud dogs in the neighbourhood.

"You alright Joel?" Asked Travis. "What's wrong with her face?" Rumbled everyone else in the minibus, clearly unaccustomed to a happy, joyous Joel. More so unaccustomed to my smile.

"Just say goodbye to the old Joel and hello to me, Joel 2.0." I joked, then made my way to the backseats, my spot. Still making sure no one sat next to me.

Look, I'm happy but I ain't tryna befriend every single stranger I meet, who am I, Kelsey?

I hopped out at school, with a smile on my face as Travis along with everyone else on the transport gawked in confusion. I haven't felt like this in a while and it was nice not having a scowl on my face for once.

I waited patiently for the class I knew I could talk to him in, Biology---which so happened to be the last one of the day. I arranged for Reece to trade places with me for a hefty 20 bucks. I'd do anything to get another chance to just talk and be with Max. His presence was warm, made you feel special, made every word feel listened to and taken seriously. I get he's got a thing for Kelsey but perhaps I'm the one for him and not her.

I didn't want to make it seem orchestrated even though it was, so I waited for the perfect time to make my move. I ran over to the vacant table when Mrs. Anderson---my biology teacher with crazy, puffy, curly hair and a strange accent was most distracted. I sat down and seeing his face, ignited an immediate smile. The warm feeling in my gut.

Oh no, it's actually a blush. Turn it off! Now, immediately! Turn it off!

I felt like Isabella from Phineas and Ferb, felt like saying "whatcha doin?"
