Miss Park's words hung in the air. Ji-Ah looked out the window. The courtyard would've been overtaken by the boys' soccer team. But today, it was overtaken by nasty zombies. The girl sitting on the windowsill put her earbuds back in her ears.

"Where are you, Su-Hyeok?" Ji-Ah muttered to herself.

Ji-Ah turns up her music, trying to drown out her thoughts. She slowly shuts her eyes. Ji-Ah begins to feel relaxed for the first time in a while.

"Hello? Earth to Kim Ji-Ah?"

Ji-Ah feels someone shaking her shoulder. Startled, Ji-Ah opens her eyes and takes her earbuds out.

"You scared me, Dae-Su!"

"Sorry," Dae-Su says, scratching his head. "You look emo. Come sit with us."

Ji-Ah looks at the boy with a blank expression. Dae-Su knew this wasn't his joyful and excited Ji-Ah. All he saw was a tired and frightened girl. Without a word, Dae-Su lifted Ji-Ah off the window and wrapped his arms around the small girl. Dae-Su's hugs were one of Ji-Ah's favorite things in the world.

The boy let go and smiled down at the girl. "I'm being serious. That's enough of being emo."

"Shut up," Ji-Ah giggles as she shoves Dae-Su.

As the pair walked over to the others, On-Jo unleashed the worst news on the group.

"I-Sak.... your hands are cold," On-Jo says from the other side of the room.

Ji-Ah and the other kids drag their eyes onto I-Sak. On-Jo lifts her hands to I-Sak's cheeks and her face drops. Twin trails of red blood drip from I-Sak's nose, confirming she was turning. Ji-Ah grabs Dae-Su's arm and hides behind him. She couldn't help but feel guilty that she was afraid of her friend.

"No, I wasn't bitten. I mean it," I-Sak says, scared and in denial. "You believe me, right, On-Jo?" Through tears, On-Jo nods, but deep inside, Ji-Ah knew that On-Jo knew it was the end. Ji-Ah swallows the lump in her throat and shuffles back with the others.

Na-Yeon walks over to the girls and jumps back once she sees the blood from I-Sak's nose. "You-you were bit!"

I-Sak runs over to a small mirror hanging on a locker. Her unfamiliar reflection stares back at her, and I-Sak watches her features rapidly morph.

"I wasn't!" I-Sak couldn't accept that she was turning. She knew she wasn't like them. She didn't want to be.

Cautiously approaching, Gyeong-Su lightly grabbed I-Sak's upper arm. "You'll be ok."

"No! I'm not like them!" I-Sak harshly removes Gyeong-Su hand. Her red eyes were lined with tears, and her voice was shaky and unsteady.

"Get her out!" Na-Yeon screams, bringing more zombies to the broken window.

"Shut up, Na-Yeon!" Ji-Ah yells from behind Dae-Su. "You're just making things worse."

Ignoring the chaos, On-Jo hugs I-Saks's cold and shaky body. Tears streamed down her face because she knew this would be the last time she hugged her best friend.

Cheong-San dragged On-Jo away from I-Sak as she dropped onto her face and started her transformation. More tears rushed down On-Jo's face as the sound of I-Sak's bones cracking flooded the room. With each crack, On-Jo could feel the friendship meant to last forever slip away.

"Someone do something! HURRY! She's turning!" Na-Yeon says as she rushes as far from the scene.

Cheong-San holds I-Sak away by throwing a lab chair. It was working well until On-Jo began screaming for her friend. I-Sak lungs to the left before she attacks anyone, and Cheong-San manages to bodycheck her out the window. Ji-Ah felt her stomach drop. Even though she wasn't the closest with On-Jo or I-Sak, they were still her classmates. They didn't deserve this. Ji-Ah gripped Dae-Su tighter in fear.

"Are you crazy? Let go, On-Jo!" Cheong-San yells at On-Jo. The girl doesn't listen and continues hanging on to I-Sak. "That's not your friend, it not I-Sak."

Ji-Ah turns and closes her eyes as Cheong-San starts to use a chair Na-Yeon gave him to push I-Sak out of On-jo's grip. The last thing Ji-Ah could hear was a loud thud, making it clear that I-Sak was gone.

After hours of awakrd and sad silence, Cheong-San speaks up. His voice echoes in the quiet room.

"We can't stay here for longer. We have to leave."

"Where would we go?" Woo-Jin asks from beside Ji-Ah, removing their shared earbud.

Ji-Ah lifts her head off Woo-Jin's shoulder. "We could use the fire hose from earlier as rope," Ji-ah says, turning off her music.

"It's definitely long enough to get us down a story. Good thinking," Cheong-San says to Ji-ah as he gets up.

Gyeong-Su sighs. "Can't we just wait it out? This might kill all of us if you don't have a plan."

"We're making one now," Cheong-san says, getting up, not waiting for anyone's agreement.

"Cheong-San," Ji-Ah calls out, standing up. "I'll help you."

Cheong-San nods and leads Ji-Ah into the lab's backroom.

"What's the plan, chief?" Ji-ah asks with a giggle.

Cheong-san lifts a mannequin hand. "Do you think this will fit through the door?"

"Probably, why?"

"You'll see," he says as he walks out of the back room.

Ji-Ah follows behind Cheong-San, wondering why he needs a mannequin hand. The boy strides over to the sliding doors. He barely opens the door and slips the plastic arm through.

"What are-"

"Shhhh," Cheong-San says to the kneeling girl next to him.

Outside, one of the zombies inches close to the arm. Luckily for Cheong-San, it doesn't notice. Cheong-san lays on the floor, extending his arm out. With a final stretch, Cheong-San pulls the hose into the classroom and slams the door shut.

"Come on guys, help me knot."
