Erika took a moment to scan her place one last time before she closed the door behind her, today she embarks on a new chapter of her life as she moves in a magarang bahay ni Francis.
She breathed deeply.
How did this decision come about when she almost lost the baby due to her clumsiness? It happened during the weekend when she decided to clean her place, after she dusted all corners of her room and changed the curtains and bed sheets, she then moved to wipe the tables and chairs and vacuum the floors. After she had completed the needed task in the living room and her bed, she started to clean up the kitchen and sink, it took a few minutes before she was fully satisfied and then went to the bathroom for the final chore. She started to turn on the faucet and put on her gloves while she sprayed some chemicals on the bathroom tiles and scrubbed the stains thoroughly. She was concentrating on her task when she made a bad footing slipped through the wet floor and painfully stumbled on her hips, shock was evident in her eyes as she readily got up and saw blood on her legs made her act out of instinct. She quickly went to the hospital and had herself checked, fearing for her baby's life while she immediately called Francis on the sides.
His voice echoed loudly on the other line as panic started to sink in. They agreed to meet at the hospital and Francis didn't even bother to change into more decent clothes right after the phone call. He took his car keys quickly and was impatient to get to the hospital at the soonest possible time.
Erika was already on the examination bed having her ultrasound when Francis arrived. He entered the room frantically and both Erika and the doctor were distracted by his movements.
"How are you? How's the baby?" He asked worried sick of the possibility.
"Your baby is fine; this is a strong little fella you have" the doctor replied.
Erika and Francis breathed a sigh of relief.
After the news was given, both were now looking at the monitor and saw the tiny little thing projected on the machine.
"There's your baby!" the doctor pointed, and Erika felt Francis' hand on her squeezing it tightly. Her heart swelled finally seeing the little life growing inside her, she suddenly felt emotional as she couldn't help but weep a little. It's real now, no more denying this fact.
"I will prescribe you the needed vitamins so it can help with the pregnancy so please make sure to religiously follow it no matter what, I will also be scheduling follow-ups for prenatal so we can be assured the baby is fine and is growing healthy."
"Salamat po Doc" sagot ni Francis dito.
"It's also best that you minimize strenuous activities para hindi na maulit ang nangyari sa iyo" the doctor added at madali namang tumango si Erika.
When they were finally alone Francis readily asked what happened. Isinilaysay ni Erika ang aksidenteng nangyari while Francis listened attentively.
"You heard what the doctor said right? She said you need to avoid strenuous activities and you can't do that if you continue to live alone" he uttered.
"Parang minimize lang naman yong sinabi ng doctor ahhh" she corrected him.
"The point is this is not going to work if you have to attend to your own needs every single time and so I think it's best that you move in with me, I have a helper who can do what is needed for you and so you can focus on yourself and the baby exclusively." He suggested that made Erika widen her eyes.
"What do you mean to move in together? How can you suggest that?" She uttered in total surprise.
This is moving so fast than what I expected. She thought to herself.
