The night progressed and Francis's words haunted Erika. His ultimatum was loud and clear, he wanted her to give up the job that she had exerted time and effort on. How many sleepless nights she offered for this company to learn the craft and the role but now it seemed pointless because Francis wanted her to throw that away.

It's not fair!

She rolled to her side trying to find a more comfortable position as she tried to process her emotions. Sleep has been elusive with her and that was because her mind went on overdrive thinking about the pros and cons of this ordeal. Of course, she could insist to Francis and stand her ground that she didn't want to give it all up, but she knew that the peace and harmony that she wanted to maintain within this relationship could be impacted if she pushed for her desires. It might eventually put a strain on them.

Do I want that? She asked herself.

Is she willing to go to that length just to make a point? Or can she live with the fact that she has gained enough experience in the corporate world and now it's time to focus more on her child?

Why do I have to choose between my career and being a mother? She sighed in frustration.

She tried to close her eyes again, praying for sleep to finally take over. She breathed. She would need to have another conversation with Francis, they can't make this decision on the spur of the moment. She would either be grateful or hate him in the process, so she needs to ensure she's doing the right thing. With that conclusion in mind, Erika finally felt the drowsiness knocking her out though her last thought was the stern look registering on Francis' face.

The next day, Erika was battling if she should go to work or not, after her thoughts settled, she went down the stairs and saw what's the situation first expecting that Francis would be off to work early that morning ngunit ganun na lamang ang gulat niya ng makita si Francis sa may hapagkainan na naka pajama.

"Good morning..." she greeted him.

"Morning..." he replied coldly while sipping his coffee.

He's still not over it.

"You don't have work today?" She asked while she also took a glass and poured herself a freshly squeezed orange juice.

"Nope, I'm taking a day off. We need to talk." Saad nito na hindi na nagpaligoy-ligoy.

She pulled a chair across Francis and sat there securely, braising herself for what was to come.

"Can we first have breakfast, please? Baby and I are hungry." She pouted and gestured a plea towards Francis and Viola her strategy worked like magic. His demeanor changed and his eyes softened when he looked at her this time, he immediately stood up and took a plate, prepared a sandwich, and added some eggs and bacon, he refiled another glass of fresh orange and sat closer to her.

"Do you want some fresh salad?" he asked softly, and Erika nodded.

She then silently caresses her belly giving her baby a high five for a job well done.

Daddy's anger is fading away anak, effective ang combo natin. She thought to herself.

"I can see through your plan Erika..." Francis called her out.

Nanlaki ang kanyang mga mata and innocently played the demure party.

"What? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about." Patay malisya niyang sagot.

Francis scoffed but a chuckle broke his lips. Erika watched him as his laughter got louder and louder. He then paused and kissed her.

"I'm sorry. Good morning, Erika" giving her a proper greeting. He then bent over and kissed her tummy. "Good morning little one" anito.
