CHAPTER 2: CAPTURE THE FLAG

WHATEVER MAGNOLIA had expected when she went on a late night walk, it was not Annabeth pulling her into a bush near the toilets. "Annabeth?" Magnolia whispered.

"We need to see if he's Poseidon's child," Annabeth whispered back, occasionally glancing at the toilets to see if her suspicions were confirmed.

"Do you not realize we look creepy right now?" Magnolia whispered, unknowingly keeping her gaze on Percy. 

"It's late, M. Besides, barely anyone else is around. We'll be fine." Annabeth replied. 

"If you say so," Magnolia whispered, trusting her friend's word and turning to see Clarisse and her friends run out of the building, soaked in water. Magnolia and Annabeth only glanced at each other before walking over to the bathroom and finding a stall door broken off, a sink spitting out water like a sprinkler and Percy standing in the midst of it all.

"I can explain." Percy calmly told them, to which Annabeth shook her head and Magnolia tilted her head in disagreement.

"No you can't," she assured.

"Wait, I know you," Percy told Annabeth. 

"No, you don't," she replied, tilting her head to the side. 

"Yeah, but you were there. That night in the infirmary." Percy explained. 

"You went to the infirmary?" Magnolia asked, turning to look at Annabeth. 

"Yes. M, I did," she replied, glancing at her before turning back to Percy.

"I'm Annabeth." she introduced herself.

"Are you two stalking me?" Percy asked them. 

"Yes," Annabeth replied.

"All her, I have no part in this," Magnolia answered, earning a glare from Annabeth before Percy spoke up again.

"Okay. Why?" he asked the two of them.

"Well, I've been waiting to see if something like this would happen," Annabeth explained, gesturing to what was left of the bathroom. "So I'd know if you can help me." she finished.

"Help you do what?" Percy asked.

"Win Capture the Flag," Annabeth responded.

Magnolia walked over to where Luke and Percy were sitting as Chiron was announcing Capture the Flag, she took her seat next to Percy and undid her two braids, opting to tie it up in a ponytail instead. "Hey, Magnolia?" Percy asked.

"Hm?" she replied, turning her head to look at him as she secured her hair up in a hair tie. 

"How did you and Luke meet?" he asked, sliding one of the hair ties Magnolia had gestured for him to hold onto his wrist. 

"Same way you two did. He talked to me on my first day and gave me a tour of the place," she replied, smiling at him before focusing on Chiron. 

"The game begins," Chiron announced. "The first team to retrieve the opposing flag and return it across the river shall be the victor. As always, there will be no maiming and no killing."
