There is absolute silence amidst the chaos.

It was everything she hated, she dreaded for. People running around mindlessly, multiple ambulance sirens kept going on, the server was too busy, destroyed furniture everywhere with wood and glass sprints, walls and floors painted with the gore of blood, dead men lying everywhere, and injured men limping around while shouting for help.

Also a hell lot of curses and swear words echoing from everywhere as if that's the only right language to use in this present damned place.

The younger is silent like a dead bird.

Nandini's mind went blank as she kneeled there and continued to stare at the tattoo on Mukti's wrist wordlessly. All day, morning and afternoon, as she got sick she was with Mukti only. Mukti took care of her.

So, when did the older got that tattoo, she has no idea and why does she have to see it now?

She doesn't know. Nandini doesn't even deserve it. She is not worthy of it, Mukti got a tattoo with her nickname and Nandini felt like her heart stopped too.

And then she felt the older slowly but stubbornly going lifeless in Navya's arm, Nandini is still holding Mukti's arm with both of her hands so carefully like the older is a fragile glass doll.

There is no pulse, Nandini can feel no pulse. There's nothing.

Navya is already weeping silently, tears pouring continuously. She is injured too but not as worse as Mukti.

Nandini couldn't believe it, she must be wrong, she didn't go to school, so maybe she doesn't know yet. She ignored the no pulse in Mukti's hand and leaned in towards her chest, put her head on Mukti's chest, and closed her eyes.

All this noise in the background is not helping, everything felt like a white noise. She closed her eyes and counted one to five, calmed herself to listen to her favorite person's heartbeat closely. There is no breathing, once again nothing.
