Chapter 22

* I did say I had not finished the novel, so I made up some theory to build the Au, but not long ago I read a comment and realized I also messed up with the characters's information from the novel as well, since the last time I checked the info, there was nothing much about them. I believe it was very long ago, and it's my fault for not making sure to check again before diving into my world. So the abilities of the novel's characters don't match with my Au (like So Hoon's ability was supposed to be healing) and their roles may not be right as well.

I really love the novel because, without it, I would never get to know Cale and Rok Soo, but I hope I can also balance between imagination and original information at some point and at least have fun here. I hope it won't disturb your experience.

Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Kim Min Ah untied her bun and let the breeze play with her lock while listening to the surrounding sounds. What happened in the past few days flashed through her mind, making her start to question her sanity.

Their Team Leader, Kim Rok Soo, was still a walking mystery after all things. She remembered the day when everything could be said to be slowly changing when they met him again at his apartment. The way he sat, the way he stood and walked, and the way he talked—many things were different to Kim Rok Soo that they got used to. He looked... older, as someone who had gone through a lot in one night but was still mischievous enough to cover that sharp look. They noticed the change and quickly adapted to the flow that Kim Rok Soo had created, which was a good sign, they thought. But maybe they once again followed the old path where their thoughts and suppositions came first without any true knowledge of the one they called Team Leader. When he started to smile and shared the plan with team members, assigning the work that was suitable for each of their strengths that he used to deal with alone, as well as the suicidal actions like overusing his ability and jumping in front of danger was replaced by the calmly calculated plan, which made them unconsciously overlook that problem. Perhaps it did not disappear but changed meticulously and discreetly.

Kim Min Ah could not help but doubt that Kim Rok Soo did plan to faint out somewhere alone, then show up like nothing happened if Han Sung Joon had not been there helping them position their Team Leader.

- Haa

If that were true, she swore she would no longer turn a blind eye to his innocent smile again. The sound of the hands going forward from the watch, the cold of the hallway, and the wind blowing around could not help her feel better. But she stopped after hearing the familiar footsteps echo in the hallway, followed by the warm coat over her shoulders.

- It is cold outside, Min Ah-ssi.

- I was just wandering while thinking. I did not know when I stopped here.

She pulled the coat tighter and hid half of her face inside. It was his. And it felt so... she felt calm and safe. Bae Puh Rum's existence gave her nerves peace.

- It's nearly a week.

Kim Min Ah muttered. She did not need to be strong and tough all the time when Bae Puh Rum was around. And yes, Kim Rok Soo had been unconscious for nearly a week. Even Yerim could not tell his exact condition. He was just...sleeping peacefully.
