"Wake up!"

My eyes slowly began to open, my head was spinning like crazy. My hands and legs were tightly tied up onto a chair, mouth covered with duck tape. A light flashed directly onto my face. I squint my eyes to the sudden attack. I scan across the dark room, avoiding the blinding bright light that came closer and closer to me. I couldn't see anything else. My heart beat started accelerating when I heard the clicking footsteps getting louder as each second passed by. There were three men walking towards me, the one in the middle had a familiar voice when he ordered one of his men to take the tape off my mouth.

I know that voice

I clenched my fist, wanting to punch his delicate face more than ever. I should have known it, it was quite obvious, yet I had ignored all the hints. He gestured the man holding the torch to switch it off. His minion gladly obliged, allowing me to see the man's figure more clearly the closer he approached the dim light above my head. He grabbed my face harshly, making me face him straight in the eyes.

"Hajoon," I spoke the second the tape was no longer in contact with my skin.

The boy just chuckles. He brought his hands to the armrest of the chair and glared right into my soul. "Long time no see, Seoyeon."

I laugh at his greeting, shaking my head noticing how confused he looks. "What even makes you think I want to see you again?"

"It doesn't matter." He says in an annoyed raspy voice. His breath was against my skin, I lean further back if that was even possible. "You don't have to."

"Get to the point, Hajoon. What do you want from me?" I deadpan. I was done with his way of twisting and turning, I want to desperately get out of here.

"Ah, it's nice to hear my name come from you," he states, completely ignoring my question. After  a few seconds of silence, he proceeds to pique my curiosity.

"Do you believe in before life ?"

I arch a brow, baffled by his sudden question. I stare back at him, not giving him an answer. We continue to stare in silence before he decides to give up waiting for a response.

"What if I told you there is a before life," he says while letting go of the armrest, pulling himself 1 metre away from me.

My confusion grows even bigger, he was making no sense and making himself look stupid. I scoffed, causing him to halt his steps pacing back and forth the room. He got serious which made me wonder if what he had told me was true.

"I'm a wanted criminal from the before life, Seoyeon ah," he explains, "I had once been paired up with you in the before life before you started life here, a match made in heaven. I was thrilled knowing we'll be a power couple as we had a strong bond, both possessing the 'guardian angel' title. We could achieve greatness and be happy having each other."

"I was supposed to have you to myself, until he showed up!" he screams. I was taken aback, the light above my head was slightly moving back and forth from the vibrations of his voice. His echoes were still loud and clear in the dark room. There was a long silence after the voices muffled down, his anger was still boiling.

"He was more capable, more suitable, stronger, nicer, better than me," Hajoon's tone suddenly softened, "Heavens had to change their plans for us. I was replaced, I lost everything and he had everything, including you," he says whilst staring down at me.

I admit that I feared him before, but not as much. He's terrifying here, I wanted to scream on top of my lungs but I knew no one could hear and the slump on my throat wasn't helping either.

"I then became useless, they even wanted to erase my memories about this. However, fortunately, I escaped before they could do so. I cut ties with the heavens. Practically, they had disowned me as well after I rebelled in front of them. I stole their most prestigious book in the chamber. It hid all secrets of each and every soulmate," he laughs, gesturing his minion to give him something. A thick book was placed on his hand. The deep red bridging revealed the old age of the book. The pages are brown and crinkly, so delicate that it may tear up so easily.

"I was a criminal anyways, might as well play my role to the fullest," he smirks, pleased with the decisions he made. My heartbeat accelerated, hoping he hadn't done anything worse than kidnapping an innocent ex-partner.

"Then, I found out something quite peculiar," Hajoon flips through the pages till he reaches the page he wants, "It's like even heavens wanted us to have a second chance." Hajoon throws the book onto my lap.

Guardian Angels

These yellow eyed angels must be selected by the Heavens as their numbers are little. Only the most strong and powerful ones are chosen. Once paired up, they go through special bonding in the Before life before they are sent down to Earth.

Upon arrival, their magnetic force tends to draw soulmates around them. They attract many pairs to meet which is why they are also named the Matchmakers. This is due to their main job being to keep soulmates safe from interference. Guardian Angels may find themselves surrounded by countless pairs of soulmates. However, everything comes with a price tag. Either Guardian Angel faces a heavy stress and pressure around them and must overcome that before meeting their soulmate. No failure cases have been recorded yet but this doesn't indicate a zero possibility.

Unlike other soulmates, Guardian Angels can face a threat if a special bond is formed with another individual. That individual doesn't have to be a Guardian Angel. Once their bond has become stronger than the original pair, a replacement is made. The other Guardian Angel will lose their partner and become completely powerless whilst the newly paired soulmate will become the new Guardian Angel couple. However, this must happen before the Guardian Angels meet.

I recalled everything that had happened while I was with Hajoon. He so desperately wanted to get closer to me, it really made me wonder if he was the one. I was naive then, he had his own intentions.

"You basterd," was all I could say. My eyes started to well up, but I managed to blink them away.

"Oh honey, don't call me that. I was only doing what was necessary," Hajoon lights up a cigarette, aiming the smoke at my face. "Besides, I was just getting back what's mine."

"I was never yours in the first place!" I yell, "No one gave you the right to own me."

"YOU'RE WRONG!!!!" Hajoon's face was now inches away from me, face completely red from his anger. He threw his cigarette away to the floor. His breath smelt disgusting, I was ready to puke at him.

"You didn't listen did you? I was supposed to have you, not that goodie oh so delicate baby," he mocks.

"Don't you dare mock him," I warned Hajoon. My anger boiled, my hands were still fighting with the strings that tied my hands together. I hate how I was unable to fight back. I needed to punch him.

Hajoon ignored me completely. He pulls away and turns his back on me. "Unfortunately, I failed. That cheerleader girl had to ruin everything."

"You act as if you weren't the one cheating on me," I said.

"Technically, I never agreed being your boyfriend." I scoffed. I was too tired to argue back. He turned around staring down at me. "Continuing with what I had said, I had a change of plans now."

Hajoon began to laugh maniacally.

"I will destroy you."

I suddenly heard the sound of spraying and the site in front of me was turning misty. I wasn't able to process anything more and my consciousness weakened till my vision became black once again.
