A surprise

Adraste POV

For the past eight hours we've been talking to eachother about everything. Right now where getting back from a short walk to the convenience store, "the snows really pretty tonight" I feel a cold breeze blow past. I pull Markus' coat tighter on my body, Markus helps me up to the room.

He helps me take off the coat and hangs it up he then helps me with my boots. "Thank you for letting me wear your coat Markus" he smiles "you're welcome." I place my hand on his wrist before he can walk away and place the boots on the door mat. "Is something wrong? You've been more quiet since I hugged you. Did I do something?"

He quickly sets the boot down and gets on his knees in front of me as i'm sitting on the couch. He grabs my hands,"no! No, Adraste you didn't do anything wrong. I just have a lot going on right now." He lays his head on my lap and hugs my waist, "i'm sorry I didn't mean to make you think that." I place my hand on his head and gently massage his scalp. Markus nuzzles more on my thigh and relaxes. He's so close.

Markus POV

I hear Adraste's heartbeat increase. Why is it beating faster? I move my head so that I can see her heart better, I scan her I watch where the blood is flowing the most. Oh thats what's wrong, I get up. "You're body temperature is still low. Would you like a bath?" She smiles up at me "yes please" I smile back and help her go to the master bathroom.

Adraste POV

After Markus helps me into the bathroom I turn to him. "Markus I can take it from here. I'll tell you if I need something, alright." He nods "alright I'll have clothes laid out on the bed for you" he presses the button on the tub and leaves shutting the door behind him. I hobble over to the duffel bag of toiletries, I reach down to the bottom of the bag and grab the box containing two pregnancy tests.

I open the box carefully and do as it says on the box. Both test are very highly rated so they should be correct, and also there two of them.

I put the caps back on and lay the tests screen face down on the contour covered by a piece of toilet paper.

I undress carefully wincing several times. I cut off the water and get in slowly. I seal my lips shut as I let out a silent scream of pain as the water touches my tortured skin. The scars hurt, the bruises hurt, the cuts burn. Everything hurts!

I eventually settle down and start soaping up my body. Pain shoots through me as I soap up my body, I can't help but start sobbing. I hear a knock on the door, followed by a worried Markus "Adraste what's wrong?" I sniffle, "running soap over my skin hurts" I say in a quiet voice. "I'm coming in" I immediately look over at the pregnancy tests shit! The door opens and I cover myself best I can.

His eyes land on the pregnancy tests. He shakes his head and walks over to me rolling up his sleeves. He kneels down beside me "don't worry I won't look just keep yourself covered," I nod and Markus washes my hair trying to avoid the cut on the back of my head.

However after my hair was done came my skin, no matter how gentle Markus is it hurts like hell. With each sob Markus comforts me and apologises.

After I'm completely clean Markus helps me out of the tub and puts a fluffy robe on me. He helps me walk to the bedroom and sits me on the bed. He then dries my hair and sits behind me and brushes my hair gently.

"Markus I know you saw the tests. What...what if I'm pregnant? It would be my fathers baby" I say the last sentence sobbing. "If you are then I will support you and the baby no matter what," I turn my head and look back at him. Markus sets the brush down on the nightstand, "want me to go get them?" I hesitantly nod.

He gets up and grabs the tests, there still face down. He sits beside me, "ready Adraste?" I shake my head "no, but I need to know." He hands one to me and we flip them over.
