You look out the window, the sun shining bright right on your face. You barely closed your eyes the whole night, replaying the image of the figure dripping in blood from her cracked open skull. The haunting memory of her blue bow sinking in the blood, mixing with chunks of her brain...

You thought you had seen it all after hanging the cold, pale corpse of your sister, but this... This was somehow even worse...

As you sit there, the morbid imagery printed upon your eyelids, you notice something slowly dripping from the walls... In the blink of an eye, the red, thick liquid starts filling up the room. It's blood.

You simply lay there, horrified. The white sheets soon becoming heavy and dripping in the deep crimson red blood. You try to scream, but the sounds are stuck in your throat and return echoing to your own head. In fact, you don't seem to be able to move anything but your eyes...

Each drop added to the growing pool of blood and misery makes you more anxious, leaving you unable to do anything about it.

Before you can be left to drown in whatever even is happening right now, you're woken up by a sudden knock on the door.

"Sunny? Are you awake? You've been sleeping for a while..." You quickly sit up, looking around frantically, it was just a nightmare...

He comes in. "Ah, you're awake! You look a little shaken... Did I wake you up?"

"Yes, but it's fine, I should already be up anyways..."

"Oh, okay then! Uhm, breakfast is still on the table if you're hungry!" He steps out of the room, closing the door behind him.

You sigh and get out of bed. Hey, maybe today isn't gonna be that bad! Aubrey is most definitely still alive and nothing is Basil's or your fault and she's gonna wake up soon! Yeah! Great mindset you got there for once.

You finally manage to get up and make your way to the kitchen table, where some toasted bread, a few pancakes and some waffles await you. After you eat, you notice Basil is gone again, strange.

You check his room, but no one's there, and the door to the garden is locked. He's probably just in the bathroom.

You brush it off, and sit around the living room for a while, waiting for him to return.

1 minute... 2 minutes... 5 minutes... Then 10... Its getting a little long, no..?

You decide to get up and go check on him for yourself instead of worrying for no apparent reason. You knock on the bathroom door, but no answer can be heard...

You gently push open the door, just to see Basil sitting on the floor, crying.

"Basil..? Are you okay..?" He looks up at you, a little surprised to see you in here.

"Oh, Sunny, hey! No, no, I'm completely fine! Just uh..."

"Are you sure..? You don't really look okay.."

"I'm fine." His last sentence came out sharp. Maybe a little annoyed that you cared this much, probably tired of repeating himself over and over again...

"Basil, please, don't lie to me." You answer back with the same harshness you received.

He looks irritated. Maybe a little more... Agitated, then usual... "Why would I be lying, Sunny? I'm fine."

"Basil, just tell me the truth, for once. Please..." You're genuinely concerned, this isn't really like him...

"You want the truth? Fine. Well, the truth is that Aubrey is probably dead. And that's my fault. And Mari is dead, and whose fault is it that we have to lie to everyone about it? Mine. It's always my fault. It's always me. WHY CAN'T I DO ANYTHING RIGHT EVEN JUST ONCE?? YOU ALL GET TO GO AROUND, LIVE LIFE AND ALL THAT BUT WHAT ABOUT ME??" He breaks down in tears, screaming, begging to finally be heard.

"And you know in the end, it's not all wrong. It is my fault after all. And there's not much that anyone can do to try to deny that."

"Basil it's not-" "Not my fault? Is that what you were gonna say? Oh, please. Spare the comforting lies for once. Is it really that hard to make me face the truth? it's my fault."

...

That is what you were about to say...

Maybe you're just not that good at comforting people.

"No, that's not what I meant. What I wanted to say was that you shouldn't blame yourself, even if it is your fault..."

"And what good will that do? Just not blaming myself? Just lying to myself to try to not hate everything about me? Just face it Sunny, you're all better off without me."

"What are you-" "You saw it too, right?" ...does he mean..?

"Did you see it, Sunny..?" "...I think so..."

"Great. Then you heard what it said, right?" Is he going crazy?

"It didn't.. talk to me..?" He groans.

"Why are you even so preoccupied by all of this, Basil..? Half of it was my fault anyways..."

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU." Wait, wait wait wait wait wait, HE WHAT-

"I LOVE YOU AND I KNOW YOU CAN'T LOVE ME BACK BECAUSE YOU PROBABLY LOVED HER BUT NOW SHE'S PROBABLY DEAD AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT TOO." You freeze. That's a LOT of information to take in at once...

"Basil, what do you mean..."

He sighs. "No. You know what. Forget it. Forget I said anything. Could you maybe get out too? Thanks."

You step out of the room, extremely confused.

Did he just say he loved you..?
