Saving Lives

INTRO

"561, radio"  Raichelle sighed and closed the book she had been reading as her partner picked up the walkie talkie "561" He answered in his low raspy voice. "I need you to take a hot call in the frank zone. 117 Lovejones Ln in the rear. 27yr old female fell down a flight of stairs in a domestic dispute, unresponsive." Dispatch described. "Copy" Patrick quickly responded as he put his seatbelt on. Raichelle turned on the lights and sirens while pulling out of the open parking lot. Patrick pressed the red button on the communications radio accepting the call they were assigned and tapped his fingers on the dash board as he waited for the GPS to load. Raichelle took a right out of the parking lot headed in the direction of the call. There were two cars ahead of her, one pulled over to the side, but other one kept driving. The blue SUV actually picked up speed. "What the fuck! Is he trying to out run me or something?!" She asked her partner as she pushed the blow horn rapidly. The  SUV finally moved over and she proceeded to the red light and slowed down a bit before changing the sound of her siren and proceeded through. Patrick bust out laughing when he saw the SUV speed through the red light, trailing behind them. "Fucking idiot" Raichelle mumbled as she continued to speed through traffic to the call. She made a quick right down Lovejones ln and cut the siren once she reached the address on the GPS.
Patrick pressed the button on his walkie talkie "561 on location with PD and fire." He reported as he hopped out the truck. "561 we got you at the scene." dispatched responded. Raichelle put her stethoscope around her neck and opened the back doors unloading the stretcher. Patrick grabbed the work bag and put it on the stretcher, taking his place at the front to help maneuver it up the driveway. The police officer met them halfway. "Good evening. We got a 27yr old female with obvious head trama and possible broken ribs. It's unclear if the injuries were sustained during the the fall. The victim says she's experiencing numbness in her lower extremities and was not able to move from her position. The call came in from the assumed assailant, however he fled the scene before we arrived." Raichelle nodded her head while she listened to the officers report. She made eye contact with her partner. "Backboard and C-collar?!" Raichelle nodded her head. "I got it. Go ahead and check out your patient, I'll be right in." She locked the wheels on the stretcher and followed the officer to the patient.
