The stove timer went off and Raichelle scribbled down one last sentence before placing her notebook inside the text book and closing it, so she wouldn't lose her place. The baked potatoes were done, the chicken had been cut into strips breaded and fried, the broccoli was finished. There was a load of clothes in the washer and dryer and she had managed to complete 80% of the assignment was due for her medic class in two days. She glanced at the clock as she was taking the potatoes out of the oven and it was 3:45pm. She was right on schedule, all she needed to do was make the afternoon snack for the family, finish this chapter and eat before she headed out to work. She took the clothes out the dryer and put them in the basket, cleared the filter and loaded it with the clothes from the washer. She carried the large basket upstairs and threw all the clothes on her bed. She put her and Gabriel's clothes up and laid the girls clothes in piles on her bed. She sorted them by pants, shirts, socks, pajamas and underclothes. Gabriel would have to help them put them away later, because she was crunching for time. Going back downstairs she washed her hands and grabbed lunch meat, cheese, bread, sandwich spread, lettuce, onions and tomatoes. She made Gabriel got 2 turkey sandwich without tomato and onion. Josiah got salami without cheese. And Arianna liked turkey, cheese, lettuce, onions, and sandwich spread. She cut the sandwiches in half and got out a large bag of doritoes pouring some on each plate. It seemed as though she finished just in time because the front door opened and Arianna ran straight to her yelling "Momma, Momma, I'm gonna star in a play at my school. Rehearsals are evey Wednesday until 6pm." Raichelle bent over and hugged her babygirl "I'm so proud of you baby!!" Josiah came and stood next to them with a big smile on her face. "What's up sweetie? How was your day?" She released her Arianna and grabbed Josiah in a big hug and kissed her cheeks until started to laugh. "It was good mom." She stood back and studied her daughters facial expression and body language. "What's wrong? Everything ok?" She asked with concern written all over face. "She fine, I just got after her cause she was being a bully to Arianna again. The whole ride home she was trying to tell me about the play and Josiah just kept interrupting her saying nobody cares and all this other crap." Gabriel interrupted. Raichelle eyebrows knit together. "What I tell you about protecting your baby sister and making her feel bad." Josiah crossed her arms over her chest and frowned. "Mom she's always talking so loud, I have a headache and I didn't wanna hear all of that." Rai shook her head, this was an ongoing problem. The two of them bickering back and forth non stop and it really just aggravated her. "Stop being so damn mean and you probably need to take a nebulizer treatment. Hurry up so you can eat and do your homework, and I'm not trying to hear that you finished it in class." Josiah huffed and turned go upstairs and take her treatment in her room. "Uhnt uhn..grab that sweater and bookbag too and don't just throw it on the floor, put it up where it belongs." She said to her as turned to situate Arianna with her afternoon snack. While she was a pouring the apple juice in a cup Gabriel came up behind her and kissed her neck, resting his hand on her thigh. "Hey Daddy, how was your day?" He turned her to face him and kissed pecked her lips a few times before they started a passionate kiss. "Ewwww!" Arianna giggled as she watched her dad feel her mom up. Raichelle laughed and released herself from Gabriel's grasp placing the cup of juice in front of Arianna. Then she poured a second cup for Josiah and grabbed a bottle of iced tea for Gabriel. "Thanks babe." He said with a mouth full of the sandwich he had just bitten into. "You welcome" She grabbed a to go container and pack it with the food she had made for dinner. "I'm about to go get ready for work. After your done eat go right to doing your homework Arianna." She nodded her head, because she didn't wanna answer with her mouth full. "Daddy, the girls clothes are in piles on the bed, they need to put them away, also please make sure they bathe and Arianna uses her skin cream. She's getting blotches from her eczema again. Dinners done on the stove, there's another load of clothes in the dryer, and can you please make sure that they lay their clothes out for the morning." She kissed his cheek and headed upstairs.

"You got this?" Patrick asked. They were loading a patient that was having difficulty breathing and chest pain into the ambulance. "Come on he's like 150lbs soaking wet. I'm good" She said smiling as she lifted the end of the stretcher and pressed the button to retract the wheels so she could push it into the ambulance. When all of the weight settled she felt a sharp pain in her pelvis, but she ignored it and kept going. Her biggest patient that she lifted into the stretcher on her own was 300lbs plus the stretcher weighs 150 so her max lift was 450. She hopped in the back of the ambulance ignoring the pain to continue caring for the man. She took out a nonrebreather because he was breathing so heavily his mouth was wide open and placed the end if the tube on the oxygen stick turning the dial to 4 and then applied to her patients face. "Ok Mr.Ortho try to take deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth if possible." She placed the pulsox on his right middle finger and waited for it to read his oxygen level. It read 89, which was not good because an adult oxygen level should be 97-100 without oxygen. She took out her stethoscope and put it in her ears and placed the bottom on his back to hear his lung sounds. "Take deep breaths in and out. I'm just gonna listen to your lung sounds." Mr.Ortho nodded his head and did as she asked. He was wheezing and it didn't seem as though he was moving much air in his lungs at all. She took out 2 tunes of liquid albuterol and poured them into the nebulizer so she could connect it to the nonrebreather. "Ok Mr.Ortho, I'm gonna give you a dual treatment because your really working hard." He nodded his head. Once he was set up with the treatment she wrapped a cuff around his left upper arm and took his blood pressure. It was 186 over 90. She went to the cabinet and took out four chewable asprin and handed them to her patient. "Here, chew these, your blood pressure is kinda high and that mixed your difficulty breathing is not a good mix. Your not allergic to asprin are you?" "No" He said breathlessly. She breathed a sigh of relief and told Patrick to go hot to the county. "Can you update dispatch for me while I call the medline." She asked taking her phone to call the medical director. She updated the physician with the patients vital signs and gave him an estimated time of arrival. As soon as they pulled up to the ambulance bay there was crew of nurses and physicians waiting to assist them with Mr.Ortho. Once Patrick opened the doors for her she hoped out and ran to the physician to give him report. Patrick and the nurses pulled the patient off the ambulance and they wheeled the stretcher in through the emergency room to a room they had waiting for him. As she answered questions and gave report the crew unstrapped the patient from his safety belts and used the sheet underneath him to move him to the hospital bed.

Raichelle sat in the passenger seat of the ambulance completing her PCR as Patrick tried to have a conversation with her. She was still feeling the pain, but it was more like an ache now. She really wasn't in the mood for small talk, but she also didn't wanna be rude, so she let him know that she wasn't really feeling well. Patrick being as protective over her as he was demanded that she go home. "You never take days off, you run yourself ragged. This probably your body telling you that you need rest. Shit..go ahead and use some of that PTO. Do us both a favor, cause you know as soon as you call in I'm right behind you , cause I ain't working with nobody else." She sat there wondering if this pain was serious enough to use her sick time. She had 3 children and didn't wanna waste her time, but she also didn't wanna be a liability. It wouldn't be fair to her coworkers for her to continue on calls knowing she couldn't perform to her full ability, because they would have to pick up the slack. "Alright I'm calling in." She shook her head when she saw the huge smile grow on Patrick's face.
