Raichelle lay in bed staring at the ceiling. It was her day off, but she had so much running around to do she wasn't looking foward to it. Her alarm went off and she turned her head to the nightstand and glared at the phone. She knew it would wake Gabriel so she quickly grabbed her phone off the charger and turned it off. He rolled over and snuggled into the covers. She envied him at that moment, because she wish she could do the same. She sat up on the side of the bed and sighed. After she took her shower and made breakfast, she had to get the kids off to school, go to her doctors appointment, do laundry, go grocery shopping, take her car to be serviced, cleaning up the house properly, make sure the kids had an afternoon snack, and make dinner before she would be able to relax again. She slipped her feet into her fuzzy house shoes and dragged herself to the bathroom.
"Hmmm...that's interesting." Raichelle opened her eyes wide and picked her head up off the examination table to look her OB/GYN in the face. "What?" She asked nervously. "I don't feel anything." She informed Rai. Confused to what the doctor was saying to her she pushed herself up on her elbows and her eyebrows knit together. "What do you mean?" Tony pulled the gloves off and discarded them. "Normally I can feel the strings of the IUD, but I'm not feeling anything at all. Is there a possibility that it fell out and you didn't notice?" The doctor asked and pushed Raichelle back gently into a laying position and began pushing on her abdomen and pelvic area. "Wait? You think something like that could've come out of me and I not notice?" I'm confused, why would it be coming out? You have to perform a procedure to insert it. I thought it would stay in place for five years until you removed it?" She asked trying to take slow deep breaths so she wouldn't get worked up. "Do you feel any pain or tenderness where I'm pressing?" Raichelle flinched when she pressed a spot that was u comfortable for her. "Yes, right there." The doctor focused on that area of her stomach pressing and pushing for a minute. "Typically that's how it works, but there are case when it dislodged and either completely come out or was dislocated in the uterus or the surrounding area. "So your saying you think it embedded in my uterine wall? I knew I should've just gotten my tubes cut and burned like I said I wanted to." The doctor rolled her eyes and chuckled walking to the sink to wash her hands. "Calm down Rai, we'll just do a intrauterine sonogram and remove it. Based on the tenderness you showed it's still located in your uterus. You can put your clothes back on and I'll get you set up with a sonogram in about ten minutes so we can find it's actual location." Raichelle pulled herself into a sitting position and got off the examination table. "Will you have to surgergically remove it?" She asked nervously putting her panties on. I didn't matter if the doctor seen her get dressed, her hand was just inside of her a few minutes ago. "Let's not jump the gun. First plan is to locate it, then we'll go from there." The doctor said smiling before she left the room closing the door behind her. "Lord, Jesus. I do not need this right now. I don't have time to be down trying to heal from a surgery." She said outloud as she finished putting the rest of her clothes on. She on the stool meant for the doctors and rolled around the room as she sent a text to Gabriel.
Me: So they're saying they thinknthe reason I've been getting these pains in my pelvis is because the IUD dislodged.
She closed the text and played tetras on her phone while she waited for a response and the doctor to return. When her text alert rang, she didn't even need to open the message because the one word text showed on the top of her screen.
Daddy 🥰: Wow
She sighed and rolled her eyes. That was his usual text when she was texting him information that had to do with doctors and health. Such a typical answer. She hated when he sent that, because it made it seem like he wasn't interested in what she was saying. "Ok, they're ready for you, just follow me this way." The doctor stated as soon as she opened the door. "Once your done with them, come back to this room and we'll discuss the results and what options are available for you depending on the situation." Raichelle simply nodded her head, because she was nervous and was trying to breath through this.
"Hello Ms.Kilpatrick, I'll be your technician today, as I understand it were going to take a look into your uterus correct?!" Rai shook her head yes and waited for instructions. "I'm gonna step out of the room and you can take your bottoms off and lay down on the examination table and cover up with this." When the technician left the room Rai searched each of the drawers until she found two more of the disposable mats that they put on the examination table and spread them out over the one there. She didn't like her bare skin to touch the leather table. Then she pulled off her jeans and panties and folded her panties inside her jeans and placed them on the chair in the corner before trying to get comfortable on the bed. The tech came back in and pulled the stirrups from the bottom of the table and help position Rai with her legs gapped wide open. "Ok, your gonna feel a cold touch and then a bit of pressure as I take images of your uterus ok?" She explained pulling out the transducer and sliding it into a clear plastic and cover it with lube. "Ready?" Rai nodded her head and braced herself. The tech gently pushed the tool inside of her and began moving it around. She stopped in certain places to take pics and measurements of her uterus.
Walking back to the room to wait for the doctor Raichelle got a got text alert. She pulled her phone out and swiped the screen to read it.
Daddy 🥰: How did it go?
Me: Don't know yet. They just got done with the sonogram and the doctor has to look at it and let me know the results.
Daddy 🥰: Don't be nervous baby. Everything's gonna be fine.
Me: 🫶🏾🤞🏾🙏🏾
By the time the doctor came back into the room Raichelle was pacing and chewing gum like a cow. She was a nervous wreck, and badly in need of a cigarette. "Well Ms.Kilpatrick....you may as well get comfortable, we have a few test to run and I'd also like to repeat your sonogram. There were a few points I need to focus on that were clear in the last one." The doctor stated. "Ok, your making me more nervous than I already was. What's going on?" Rai asked. "Well....think we've located your IUD, but we've found something else that was unexpected given the circumstance." Rai took a deep breath and sat down. "Oh Lord..please don't tell me I have cancer!" She sat down and began wringing her hands in her lap. "Well we found a baby, there was a strong heartbeat present and it seems to be......" Everything the doctor said after that sounded like an broken ambulance siren. She could feel her heart racing, and suddenly got dizzy. The doctor rushed to her side when she noticed Rai eyes rolling to the back of her head and her body seemed to go limp.
