jason and i are about to film the podcast right now. taylor got back from new york this morning from being in the jimmy kimmel show last night. she was exhausted so i told her to go take a nap while i take care of ella. she's in the corner of my office playing with her toys now quietly while jason and i talk.
we are in the middle of talking about my last game when i feel little hands grip my calf.
i look down in surprise, "hey princess." i say and bend down and pick her up. ella looks so cute in her blue roller rabbit heart pajamas and her blonde curls falling by her face and i brush them out of the way.
"i guess we have a surprise guest today. making her new height debut we have ella kelce!" jason announces making me smile being a proud dad
"dada." she babbles and i smile and kiss her little cheek
"can you wave to uncle jason?" i coo to her. and she throws her little hand up and jason gasps in delight and waves back enthusiastically.
"so how's my favorite niece?" jason asks
"she's good. since she's learned to walk, she's going everywhere. tay has been baby proofing everywhere she goes and some of these contraptions are complicated. i can't even tell you how many times in the past week i've had to go to a different bathroom because i couldn't open the toilet or how i have to step over the gate to get down the stairs because the lock is confusing." i explain and jason starts laughing
"travis. they aren't that complicated." he states
"ok those gates i can sometimes get but those damn toilets are a different story." i admit.
"um trav, are we cutting out this who segment?" jason asks referring to ella
"let me run it by taylor and i'll get back to you in a little bit." i say and bounce the little girl on my lap
we chat aimlessly for a little bit till ella starts to whine in my neck.
"we might have to call it quits for now, somebody is getting a little restless." i say motioning my little girl
"i get it man. until next week." jason says
"mama." ella whines
"let's go see mama el." i tell her softly
"well that's my cue. bye jas." i say
"bye trav, bye ella." he says and i take ella's little hand mimic a wave and we end the show and hang up our call.
i leave the office with ella in my arms and we go up to mine and tay's bedroom.
we go in and i see taylor scrolling on her phone appearing as if she just got up
"hey there are my favorites." she says when she sees us
i bring ella over to the bed and she immediately makes her way to taylor and snuggles into her side.
i climb on my side of the bed and face taylor as she faces me.
"hey tay, i gotta talk to you about something." i present to her
"is something wrong?" she asks concerned as she brushes ella's loose hairs out of her face.
"no of course not. it's just that ella came onto the podcast today and was on my lap and everything and i told jason i'd run it by you if it's going to be cut out or not." i explains as she runs her fingers through ella's hair
"what did you guys talk about?" taylor asks
"not much, she mostly just sat on my lap and hung on me, but we were talking about her walking and the baby proofing and also how i can't figure out any of it." i explain and taylor laughs at the last part
"yeah that's fine then. thanks for asking me." she says
"what do you think el? you wanna be on daddy's show?" taylor asks ella who's snuggled up in her still
"mhm. i was." ella mumbles
"i heard you did so well my little star." taylor tells her and ella smiles
"mommy is star." ella looks up at her mom
"mommy's a star?" taylor clarifies and ella nods making me laugh
"mommy daddy and ella are all stars." tay tells ella.
ella rolls over and climbs on top me and i scoot us closer to taylor and we all lay there and snuggle for a while.
