Valley of Hope.

Blodhgram was busy with the preparations for the opening of the valley. It was a simple function much to his liking. After all you cannot invite everyone to see the Rider's secrets even though it is something magnificent. All invitations had been sent out to Eragon's handpicked guests. All defensive buildings have been reinforced by magic with the Edulnaris' help. He was pushing forward to place the Alzuri. Once in place, it will shut off the entire world from the valley, very much like Ellesmera at the Du Warden forest. He constantly avoided being close to any mirror or any sort of liquid to avoid being scryied by his queen, Arya Drothing until the shield is placed. After another day of hard labour, he sat down with the other elves that had chosen to accompany Eragon. He reached for his glass of water. Just as he was about to take a sip, it shimmered. His Queen's face appeared before him. He inwardly sighed. All his efforts had gone to waste. He hoped to elude her Majesty at least for a few more days hopefully Eragon would have been able to get back safely. Alas, it was not to be.

'Atra esterni ono  thelduin Shur'tugal Arya Drothing, Blodhgram spoke first as she is of a higher status than himself. 'Mor'ranr lifa unin hjartaonr, elda-Blodhgarm. I have a feeling that you have been avoiding me Wise One,' she spoke eyeing him. Blodhgram visibly swallowed, he knew of her wrath and he has no intention on learning more about it. 'You are mistaken my queen. We are moving extremely fast to prepare for your arrival and for the event that will be held soon. The Alzuri also has be placed as soon as possible. We cannot afford to tardy any more. As the valley is vulnerable to attacks as long as we delay. That's why I hardly have time to speak to you. My deepest apologies if I had offended you Arya Drothing,' he spoke quickly trying to avoid any sense of fear creep into his voice. Switching to the ancient language, Arya spoke,' Where is Eragon? Why is it that he cannot be scryed? Even though I used the mirror he enchanted for me. Blodhgram knew he won't be able to lie in the ancient language so he opted to tell the truth to her. 'He has gone to Surda,' he stated simply. The clatter at the table stopped abruptly. All eyes were on him, not that Blodhgram minded the attention, but he certainly felt uneasy with the Queen's hardened gaze. If looks could kill, he might have passed on to the void a few times at least by now.

'Who did he bring along, seeing that most of the elves are with you? And, when did he leave?' she asked. ' I'm not sure my queen, I only know that it is a female sorceress that is well skilled in the roads of Surda. Eragon said he would be back as soon as he is done with whatever that has caught his attention. It has been three days since he left.' Blodhgram ' Very well, I shall see him at the party and discuss this matter. Thank you Blodghram-elda, you have been most helpful,' she dismissed him. 'Un du evarinya ono varda, Arya Drothing,' Blodhgram said before she ended the spell. He sighed releasing his breath that he had consciously been holding. 'What do we do?' one of the elves asked out loud, voicing the question that has been lingering in all of their minds. 'We do as we have always done. We continue as nothing has occurred. We have no ways to contact Eragon as even the Queen is unsuccessful in that venture. We shall move forward and place the sheild tonight during the full moon and complete our preparations for the upcoming event,'Blodhgram spoke with authority nobody dared to question. He looked around the table and saw familiar faces.they were his friends even before the Varden was founded, They have always followed his lead, there is no reason why they would suddenly change their ways. It is not the way of the elves to simply change their minds.

Surda.

Eragon woke with a start. His waking dreams allowed him to always be conscious of his surroundings even in sleep. He visibly relaxed as he saw one of the servants of the castle entered his room with a set of fine clothing. He casted his mind to events of the previous night. Ghost ran off as soon as Saphira finished speaking. He restrained from chasing the rapidly disappearing figure as he knew there was still time for Ghost to be properly persuaded to join the Rider's rank, and forcing it onto him is not one. He got dressed as he knew be had to be present when the princess of Surda returns from her 'trip'. He had decided last night how to handle the lack of heir problem in Surda and Saphira approved. He wore the garments laid out for him, a  sapphire coloured shirt with matching pants. He wore his black gauntlets and strapped his sword to his side. Once satisfied with his appearance, he left the room careful not to wake Saphira up. She needed her strength if they were to return  immediately, not to mention  they had no edulnari with them. Plus a human celebration like this would only bore her. He stopped to tell the servant waiting outside his room to make sure Saphira is fed well and prepare food and supplies for two enough to last 3 days.

Everything was frenzy. Celebrations of Surda comes with great majesty. Everything was alive in a festive mood. The entire city is adorned in a new form. The entire ground was well decorated with flags and colourful clothes. Tents had been raised for King Orin, Eragon and the rest of the council. A special spot had been reserved to the Princess Sarah, the first rider of Surda. A large red carpet was laid all the way from the main entrance of Surda all the way to the front of the palace. A large number of people had assembled to witness such historic event. Indeed, even the balconies were packed to capacity by spectators who included children, teenagers, ladies of the noble families, and others. Even the servants were allowed to abandon their duties to witness the celebration. A lot of enthusiasm was discernible among the vast assemblage of the crowd, especially because this was a rare event. The people cheered calling out praises. Musicians blaring out tunes while performers danced gracefully to the tune. Children running around chasing each other without a worry in the world. Worried mothers kept an eye on their children. Merchants yelling out to the crowd selling their merchandise. Eragon  took his place among the councilmen. He smiled in nostalgia, remembering the last time an entire city lit up was at Ilirea, formerly known as Uru'baen after the Dark King was defeated.

And then, a shadow passed by overhead....
