Everything slowed down for Eragon, time, King Orin's movements, and even the sound from outside the throne room. He was a skilful swordsman, hardened by extreme training from the elves, hard work from his days of battle, and experience of defeating many different opponents ranging from foot soldiers all the way up to mages, wizards, the Black Hand and even the Ra Zac. Thus, he managed to deflect King Orin’s blows and jabs without tiring himself too much. His blows were much more swifter, stronger and quicker, and the King was no match to his swordplay. Soon, all King Orin could do was to protect himself from being cut into ribbons and in less than five minutes, Ebithril had disarmed the King with his favourite backhand stroke that would force his opponent to drop his or her sword or risk a few of losing their fingers. The sword fell with a loud 'CLANG'. Everyone held their breath, as they knew what was next. Eragon smiled kindly and instead of beheading the King for his ignorance, Eragon returned the sword to King Orin to give him another chance. Brian forcefully hid a scowl which Elva noticed with her heightened senses. Eragon wasn’t done with this arrogant man yet. King Orin raised his sword once more. His breath was ragged and forceful due to his excessive strain when trying to attack Eragon. Elva was quiet during the encounter. She had not spoken a word ever since King Orin and Eragon had clashed blades. She was observing every reaction of the King’s council members while browsing through their mind without them noticing it and she found that many wanted the King dead. She also found out about the King's daughter.

A scrap of shoe brought her to the present. She tried to access King Orin's brain, but since he was focusing on surviving against Eragon, there was nothing else she could do but wait for him to drop his guard. King Orin waited with his sword raised as he watched Eragon positioned himself with Bsingrr ready. All of a sudden, Bsingrr flared into life with its brilliant blue flare almost rivalling the flooding sunlight in the throne room. Eragon moved so fast that his motion was blurry to everyone except Elva who was used to this type of speed. Eragon did an arc with Bsingr and jumped high with Bsingr raised high above his head. The King only had time to raise his royal sword over his head in defence. Eragon’s blazing sword cut through King Orin’s sword as if it was made out of butter slicing the thing in half. Another 'CLANG' was heard, only this time, it was permanent. The sword will not have another battle to add into its list. 'Show off' Elva thought in her mind sending an image of her poking out her tongue at him to Eragon. However, Eragon did not reply. His eyes were blazing with the firery blue exactly like his blade. His eyes were hard and cold as they stared at the cold hard ground. He aimed a jab at the King's neck without even looking up from his position. Everyone in the room inhaled sharply. Some even gasped as the blade stopped inches away from touching the King's flesh. King Orin himself could feel the heat of the flame on his skin. He gulped loudly. 'You are a King of a nation you idiot, don't let this boy make a fool out of you,' he scolded himself. He cleared his throat before saying, "You lost Eragon. You used magic to make that sword of yours to burst into flames and defeated me. If it weren't for those flames, I would have won! You won the battle, but lost the war. No wander you are not a king of a nation. You would have led it to its own destruction." King Orin was practically yelling when he finished his little talk. He wanted to show his subjects that he was not intimated by Eragon's display of power.

However, Eragon was not in the mood of playing silly games. He looked up from his position with a menacing look silencing the King. He took his time to slowly stand up, put off Bsingr's flame, sheath it back and stood up straight. The little crowd in the throne room was getting nervous. They begin to whisper to each other. Another withering look and the room fell deathly silent. Even Elva was silent. She even held her breath as she quietly waited for Eragon's move. Even she had not seen this part of Eragon before, but she knew better than to prod him. Eragon's eyes returned to their normal colour and he spoke up clearly for all to listen. 'I had disarmed the King of Surda once in front all of you without causing any harm or breaking any rule of the duel. Am I right?'he asked looking at the crowd that has gathered in the throne room. A slight murmur rose and fell once more. Most of them were nodding their heads. 'So I already won my duel with the King, and therefore protected the Riders honour. I will make sure the Council hears about this. Until further action is taken by them, I place Surda under it's Princess's rule. That is the reason I sliced your sword in half. You have lost your symbol of power and for now, you will rot in the dungeons for treason against the Riders. Your daughter will lead Surda under the guidance of High Queen Nasuada until the Princess is deemed ready to take over permanetly. This act is done only to coach the Princess in the ways of the politics and Agleasia's law and not to take control of the Surda nation. Surda will remain as a free nation during the training period and will continue to be so after the training is over and the Princess is crowned Queen,' Eragon spoke calmly.

Nobody dared to open their mouth while Ebithril spoke. He radiated power and strength although he spoke with such calm voice. King Orin was fuming, but he kept his tongue in check. He recognise a threat when he sees one. He knows that Eragon will not hesistate to allow his head to roll down the streets of the capital if he spoke without thinking. Someone cleared his throat, Shadeslayer. There were a few gasps. Eragon's head snapped faster than anyone thought possible and singled out the source of the voice silencing the rest in the process. There was an eerie silence as the man built enough courage to speak in front of Eragon. The tension was rising and threatened to boil over. 'In case you are wondering, I don't have all day', Eragon spoke calmly. His face n voice did not betray his feelings to the onlookers.

Brian swallowed loudly before continuing,' forgive me Shadeslayer, I think that is not possible.' Eragon raised an eyebrow before speaking,' And exactly why is that not possible, young man?''Because Shadeslayer, our princess, is also a rider like yourself' Brian spoke carefully not sure how Eragon would react. Eragon smiled in his mind at the possibility of another Rider yet still keeping his face impassive not letting out what he is thinking, keeping deathly silent. 'Where is she?' Elva spoke after some time. 'Princess Sarah should be on her way back from her uncle's mansion today. If she ride hard, she'll be here by midnight today, milady,' Brian replied. Very well, prepare for arrival and throw a party in her honor, I want all of Surda to know that their princess have joined the ranks of the Riders. As everyone bowed and left, Eragon went back to thinking how he should train this newest pair. He didn't even notice Elva starring at him closely or King Orin being unceremoniously dragged out to the dungeons. 'Till we meet Princess Sarah,' he thought to himself.
