In the mids of their conversation Joanne bursted out a loud "Shit", then fell back into her chair running her hands through her hair.
"I am the worst guest ever. Forgetting your present in my hotel room." She let out a little sigh. "I am so, so fucking sorry. That is so rude."
Toto chuckled as he watched his accompaniment blush in the seat across him. She definitely did not hold back into her choice of words. No other guests were there, so at least they got no rude stares.
"You didn't have to buy me a present, your presence is enough."
She leaned forward again, resting her elbows on the edge of the table and resting her head on her folded arms.
"Yes, it was necessary. Besides, do you realize how difficult it is to buy a present for someone who can buy anything for themselves? It was fucking exhausting."
Now toto laughed out loud. He hadn't even looked at it from this point of view. Her face fell slightly and he found it difficult to interpret what followed. "Are you laughing at me, Mr. Wolff?"
"Maybe a bit." He sipped his wine briefly. "But tell me how was your flight?"
"Very smooth, and thank you again and for organizing everything, from flight to hotel."
They were sitting on the little terrace with the view on the beautiful beach. The coastal breeze was pleasantly warm and it still smelled of the beach, despite the late hour. Joanne sat casually in her chair, her long legs crossed.
"Do you mind," she took out a cigarette from her purse.
"Not at all, but tell me why do you even smoke? Do trust fund kids not usually do cocaine."
Joanne chuckled a it, how she missed his accent and the bit wrong grammar when he talked.
"My cocaine days are long gone, Mr. Wolff. You can be happy that you never met me in that phase of my life."
He starred at her lips while she talked. God he never saw a more beautiful woman with such charisma. The way she does nearly nothing, still drawing him into her allure. The way she smells, the way she laughs at her own jokes like it's the funniest she's ever heard.
"My grandmother", she continued slowly, "she is the reason I smoke. She smoked as long as I knew, so did her friends. But when the ladies got older, they stoped due to health issues. Jackie still wanted to share a smoke on special occasions but never alone, so she gave me my first at," she stopped a moment to think, "fourteen I think. I know I know that's very young, but I think I smoke ever since."
Her eyes sparkled as she talked about her grandmother, like she is Joannes greatest possession in life.
"You like her a lot, don't you?" Joanne looked at Toto for a second. "She is the most important person in my life, she basically raised me after my father's death. It was always boarding school in England and vacations going back home to my grandparents."
Joanne chuckled for a moment, knowing well the next thing she is going to say might come off as rude towards Toto. "I do not have to ask you about your grandparents, don't I? They look at you probably from down under."
Toto laughed hard. She did not just say that. "No, they are long dead, but I somewhat can relate, I lost my father very young as well." Her smile faded a bit. "I am sorry."
"This gets all too sad now," Joanne tries to uplift the mood, "tell me Mr. Wolff, is there anything you like apart from Formula 1. I have to be honest, I read a bit for you and it looks like you live and breathe formula 1."
"Living and breathing Formula 1 is nicely worded Joanne, thank you. I just love my job, I tried being a racing driver but it did not work out but I found my passion in the sport and it never let me go."
"Wanna hear a funny thing." Her eyes sparkled with mischief. Her bright green eyes, intimidating at first glance, seemed almost infinite at second glance. He had to keep reminding himself that he had invited her to talk as a friend.
"I have no fucking clue about the sport. I tried watching it but somehow the spark never leaped over to me." He put on an astonished and almost disappointed face.
"Do you want to hear something funny, Joanne?" She nodded eagerly. "That I exactly why I invited you today. My whole life revolves around the sport, even my last marriage did. Now people talk to me about Formula 1, my divorce or both. You on the other hand did not care that evening which was a very refreshing breeze in my life."
Her face lit up for a moment. "You are welcome. Hit me up if you ever need a reality check in your life again."
Talking with each other felt almost therapeutical for her. It came of so natural, like they knew each other for such a long time. The man sitting across from her in buttoned shirt, the hair a bit wild due to the slight wind and the glassed, oh the goddamn glasses was talking but she had to concentrate to listen to him. She would love to climb over the table and press her lips to his. How they might taste? That was not enough. She wanted to kiss him until she dies due to the missing oxygen.
"Jo, are you even listening?" Toto looked at her with amusement, he had already recognized that her thoughts had wandered, which was perhaps also due to the fact that she was subconsciously staring at him penetratingly.
"Sorry, I just got lost in my thoughts." "What were you thinking about." "Oh Toto, we do not know each other well enough or maybe I have just a bit to much respect of you to tell you yet."
Now she sparked his interest. "So so", he raised an eyebrow. He obviously realized that she was undressing him slowly with her eyes. Oh how he would like to do the same, but how could he ruin such a young woman.
"Lets change that then", he held out his hand to her, "how about a little sightseeign tour? Monaco by night is even more beautiful than by day."
