Where I was going I didn't know all I knew was that I shouldn't be there. Before long the moon was almost in the middle of the sky. I shivered a bit and decided I needed to go back. So I turn around and start my journey back home, but I begin to hear the howls of wolves in the distance. Knowing that I'm in danger I pick up the pace back home not too long I see in the moonlight a house not too far off. I breathe deeply and sprint for it once I reach the house I knock on the door frantically. As the door opens and before I could get myself in I find a dagger in my face.
"What do you want? Are you a bandit? Answer me?" The man in his pajamas speaks too quickly for me to answer, but finding a chance to speak
"I am not a bandit just a traveler heading to Hegnaer" the man still suspicious lowers his dagger at least "As I got lost it became dark and then I heard wolves howl so I ran till I saw your house if I may come inside I with explain everything" he reluctantly agrees and lets me in.
Once we got situated at his table I explained some of the story leaving out some of the crucial details.
As he listens to the end he finally says "Are you some kind of idiot"Taken aback by his words "No" I deny "I just have a few problems that I need to deal with"
"Yeah we all have a hardship but whatever problem you have caused you to shove the one you want to be with" His words stab into me as he continues "If I was a wise sage I would tell you to go back and tell her what's eating you" his words are obvious but difficult to do. Seeing the dilemma written on my face he sighs "You can stay here for the night, but come morning you need to go"
"Yes, thank you"
After the talk, since he had no kids or wife and no additional bedding we ended up sharing the same bed. Once dawn came and I was woken by the sounds of farm animals outside. The man was not in bed knowing what time it was I got up and since he was not inside, but with a plate of a little food on it I decided to eat as my stomach grumbled. Having finished I left the house to find the man tending to a fence post because he helped me I wanted to do the same.
"How was breakfast" he says hammering in a nail
"It was good," I think "How did you know I ate it"
"I didn't" We snickered a little as we continued to work "So what are you going to do now"
"I think I'm going to take your advice and go back even if it turns out to only be to apologize" The man looks relieved
"Gulzin"
"What?" I look somewhat confused by his words
"My name"
"Oh" now understanding "And I would be Yorn"
After the small amount of work I did I thanked him for his hospitality and left. I made my way quickly back to town but it was already midday, so I stopped at home, grabbed a hooded cloak I keep for rainy days, and put it on to hide my face since I was still embarrassed by my actions my first stop was to the town dungeon.
When I entered I saw a usual sight Dernali sitting she looked up and recognized me immediately "Ah I was concerned you might not ever come back"
"Why would you think that"
"Well I heard a decent portion between Lundgren and Cranth"
"Cranth was here?"
"Yes it was funny too he demanded for you to be arrested at all cause how red his face was I thought steam would come out of his ears" she chuckles at her words "But seriously what happened?"
I take a seat and just like with Gulzin I tell a similar story to her.
When the story was finished she sat back trying to digest all this new information "Well the best option I have is I'm temporarily relieving you from being a guard" The news shocked me but I listened " I want you to take a few days to sort through this and for me not to have you arrested I want you to apologize for your actions"
