Today's the day for Bijou and Luz. They were finally gonna enroll at Hexside, just like what they always wanted. At the auditorium backstage, the two girls were getting ready to demonstrate the spells they learned for Principal Bump. Eda and Hazel tagged along for moral support. Luz cast a light magic amid the darkness.

"I'm not ready for this, Eda," she said to the Owl Lady. "Maybe we should go back."

"Nah, kid. You got this. Just do what we practiced," Eda urged her, as Bijou performed the plant magic to ensure she did it correctly.

"Eda's right. You and Bij have come this far. There's no turning back now," Hazel chimed in.

"But what if I mess something up? Or what if I do something wrong? What if I die?" Luz still rambled on worriedly.

"Hey, calm down," she comforted the girl. "I had to do the same thing when I was a witchling. It's like a rite of passage. Granted, I was a little more skilled," she massaged her chin with a little chuckle.

"Gee, I'm not sure if that pep talk is gonna work," Bijou said, raising her eyebrow.

"Eda," Luz reminded her.

"Right, right. Sorry, sorry. Now, get pumped!"

"Pumped!" Luz exclaimed with resolve, feeling more encouraged than ever.

"Get ready."

"Ready!"

"Now, go!" She pushed Luz onto the stage for her admission exam.

"Show Principal what you had learned," Hazel chimed in.

"You've got this!" Bijou said, nodding encouragingly.

"From the humblest of beginnings, a hero will rise," Luz said as she stepped on stage, donning a robe and hood.

"I have traveled from another realm and trained with a powerful witch to master dark and forbidden magic. I am... Luz Noceda!" She dramatically removed her cloak laughed uncomfortably, as Principal Bump was the only other person in the audience.

"Confetti," she smiled as she threw some.

"Right. The human that wants to be a witch, along with your friend. Against my better judgement, I've allowed you to take this exam into Hexside. But can you even do magic with all your...human parts?"

"I sure can," Luz replied, smiling. "It's said that humans can't do magic," she continued, opening her fanny pack and pulling out several documents. "But my friend and I discovered a lost technique that changes everything."

She laid down both of the spells she had learnt. He offered an interested glance, and Eda gave two thumbs up from backstage. Bijou and Hazel exchanged expressions of excitement. Luz tapped her light spell, and the orb flew into the air.

"Spells cast with paper? I've never heard of such a thing," Principal Bump exclaimed in shock. "But is it enough to pass the exam?"

"Uh..."

"Try something else," Bijou said, peeking from the curtains.

"Improvise!" Eda added, also peeking from the curtains.

"Uh, I can do other things," Luz climbed to her feet. "What about...this?"

She placed her eyelashes over her eyes as she did at school.

"Bleep, bloop, bleep."

Needless to say, Bump was not impressed.

"Ow! Ow! Eyelash, eyelash," Luz exclaimed, slipping from the melting ice and landing in her cloak. She dashed around and slipped off the stage, landing directly on Bump.
