Luna's POV
It was about 8:00am when I woke up. I got up out of bed and headed to the kitchen. I was making breakfast for myself when my brother came downstairs. He asked me to make him breakfast but I was already running late to school so I told him I couldn't. I packed my breakfast to go since I knew I wasn't gonna have enough time to eat it.He started complaining and yelling at me so I matched his energy and yelled back at him. My mom walked in and asked us why we were yelling and my brother told her because I couldn't make him breakfast. My mom started telling me some bullshit about how I should make him breakfast and that I clearly didn't care about him. She then proceeded to tell me that I was selfish.I looked at her and said "he's not my responsibility. I have to get to school. She looked at me and said Mariana I don't know why you are like this." I yelled and said "like what?" She stayed quiet and didn't say anything. I went to my room to change and when I came back downstairs my mom looked me up and down and said "I think you've gained weight" I looked at her and rolled my eyes. I went to the kitchen to get my food but quickly realized it wasn't there. I asked my mom where it was and she said that she gave it to my brother since he was hungry. I was so fed up of everything I gave her a cold stare and said "You're a Bitch".
As those words escaped my mouth I immediately regretted it when I was met with the force and sting of a hard object that had been thrown at me. I looked to see and she had thrown a glass salt shaker at me. It broke on impact leaving me with multiple cuts on my arm. I wrapped it up as best as I could and headed off to school. As if that didn't hurt enough I had multiple bruises and unhealed wounds from previous arguments/fights with my parents. I was used to the physical and emotional abuse it occurred almost daily. I never told anyone about it because deep down I thought it would get better but it never did.
I headed to class and went about my day. Once I was done at school I headed to the restaurant for my shift. I felt myself getting dizzy and lightheaded but didn't think too much about it. It was already the afternoon and all I had eaten was a protein bar from the vending machine. I decided to ignore the way I was feeling also due to the fact that I couldn't afford to call in sick. I finally arrived at the restaurant and saw that it was busy as usual.
