A reminder from the past

Author's note, I'm sorry that it's been a little over a month since I posted last but hopefully this chapter will be worth the wait. It will be based on something that happened years ago and Chicago PD so I hope you like it.

Erin's pov: it's been a crazy few months for our family. First thing was we as parents got the most scariest phone call that anybody ever could've gotten which was there was a shooter near our kids school, the good news was no kids were was harmed but the bad news was we still lost somebody which was Alvin, but he died a hero, trying to talk the shooter down from doing anything stupid and the shooter ended up shooting him, but it will be OK. The next thing to happen is we all decided to head to North Carolina for much-needed family vacation while we were there I decided that why wait to renew our vows let's just do it here on vacation which we did in a couple things was a little shocking on the trip one we found out that Natalie and Will are having yet another baby we're so happy for them, and for two we found out that we are yet again pregnant so soon after having Ezra, but we are so happy to have another baby here soon, it's been a crazy few months for sure. Right now I am 14 weeks pregnant. I'm glad I am out of the first trimester finally so that's good. Today was a very long day at work right now the kids just went to bed so me and Jay are just relaxing in our bed before we go to sleep.

E= I am so beyond tired after today
J= oh yea I am too babe. At least the kids went down pretty easy tonight so we didn't have to worry about fighting them to get to sleep.
E= oh, thank God for what do you have in your hands?
J= our mail that has been building up for the last couple days. I figured it was time to look through it to see if there's anything important.
E= oh yeah, probably a good idea, so is there anything besides bills in there?
J= not really, just mainly bills. Oh wait here is something
E= oh really what is it
J= something from Metropolitan correction center
E= wait what who would be waiting to us from prison
J= I have no idea babe it's adjusted to both of us
E= wow that is so weird
J= do you want to open it now or wait until tomorrow morning
E= oh no, we have to open that now or else I won't be able to sleep tonight. Wonder who wrote us from prison
J= all right ( opens it and hand it to Erin )
E= ( starts to read ) " dear Erin Lindsey and Jay Halsted you are getting this letter to inform you that the prisoner, Derek Keys is up for pool and as victim of his climbs you have the chance to speak on what you went through. The hearing is for next Friday at 11 AM hope to see you there"
J= wait what in the hell please tell me this is a joke
E= I sure hope so but it seems weird to me. I guess I'll have to call and talk to them in the morning to see what's going on. Since it's so late.
J= oh yeah, let's hope so. I guess we should go to bed since we do have things to do in the morning.
E= oh yeah, let's hope I can sleep now

We try our best to go to sleep at first it was hard, but eventually we get to sleep when the morning hits we get the kids up and out the door to school and then we head into work ourselves

P= hey Erin do you have a second
E= no platt I don't sorry I had to take care of something
P= it's all right
AR= hey Erin can you
J= Adam not now
KA= Jay what's going on
J= once we get it all figured out we will let you guys know
AD= all right that's fine
E= are you sure about that? Thank you.
J= so what did they say is the letter telling us the truth?
E= yes the letter is true he is up for parole sadly
HV= hey I got your message, so is this true or not?
J= sadly Hank it is true
E= I just got off the phone with the parole board and they said he is up for parole
HV= that is just crazy
J= oh yes it is
HV= so what are you going to do?
E= I have no idea Hank I haven't stopped thinking about that since last night when we opened and read the letter
J= yeah, same here
HV= are you guys going to tell the team
J= I think we should
E= yeah, let's go tell them
DT= hey boss what's going on?
KR= do we have a case
E= no we don't but I do have to tell everyone something
AD= OK I hope everything is good with you and the baby
J= yes, the baby is still doing fine
KB= that's good to hear
E= so for most of you guys that was here about 15 years ago. Does anyone remember the name Derek Keys?
KA= oh yes I do
AR= he is the one who kidnapped Jay so many years ago
DT= wait Jay you were kidnapped
J= yes I was pretty much everyone in this unit has been kidnapped at one point in time
AR= well actually I haven't been kidnapped at all
E= Adam you never know maybe you would get kidnapped sooner or later so don't speak too soon
KA= well to be honest if someone kidnapped him, they might send him back right away since he is very annoying and talks too much
AD= oh yeah, that's true Kevin
DT= no doubt about that
KB= sadly it's true Adam
VR= I agree with my husband
GM= I'm just going to stay quiet over here and not comment on this topic
AR= that is a good idea mouse can we stop on me and get back to what Erin was saying please
J= OK fine for now
E= so me and Jay got this letter over the last few days and we just discovered it last night and we had it and it told us that Derek was up for parole
AD= wait, there is no way
KA= how is that possible?
GM= please tell me this is a joke
E= no it isn't mouse. That's what I was checking on when I got here.
AD= oh man how is that possible?
E= well I guess according to the warden, Derek has been a good inmate for the last 10 to 15 years
KA= yeah I'll believe that when I see that
AR= he probably is being super fake and maybe bribing the guards to say that he's been a good inmate
J= yeah probably but since me and Erin are victims of his climbs, we have the chance to make a statement if we think he should get out or not
KB= what are you guys going to do?
E= honestly Kim I have no idea it's hard to decide what to do
J= we will decide by next Friday anyways we just wanted to let you guys all know what is happening since you guys were all there that many years ago most of you were
AD= well thanks for letting us know
J= yeah, it's no problem
E= but for now let's all get back to our paperwork
AR= you got it boss also here is this stuff
