Part 23

Ezra's 21st birthday... (Four years after Kanan's disappearence.)

Today was the day he would see her. It had been two years since he had seen her. They would meet on a rebel base on one of the moons of Japisurn.

Ezra ran off the ship in anticipation. Hera and Zeb were there as well. "You guys seen Sabine?" He asked them.

"Nah, she will be landing in a few hours."

"Oh, ok. So how have you guys been?" Ezra asked.

"I've been doing some piloting gigs, and Zeb was sent to recruit some more rebels." Hera answered.

"Great!" Ezra said. He turned and walked away from his friends. He went into a quite room, and metitated. He wanted to see Sabine as soon as he could.

---a few hours later---

Ezra stood near the docking area. Soon, a very excited girl ran out of the area and into Ezra's arms. Sabine pulled him close. They hugged for a while, until a voice being them coughed.

Sabine looked up to see Zeb. "Great to see you!" She said, giving him a quick hug. She also gave Hera a quick hug when she walked up.

"It's so great to have the entire crew back together!!" Hera said excitedly.

"Yep! The entire crew..." Ezra's voice faultered. He turned and ran from them before they could see him cry. It was getting harder and harder to live without Kanan.

"Did I say something?" Hera asked.

"Nope, I'll go see what's up." Sabine said as she followed Ezra's force signature.

She found him in a white room, with one looking out into the endless abyss of space. (Reference means nothing)

"You okay?" She asked him as she sat next to him.

"I'm always okay." He said giving her a smile. A fake one, but one none the less.

"I asked people about Caleb Dume, but no one seems to know who he is. I think we are the only ones with real memories of him."

"Do you have any?"

"The only one I have is the day he..." She stopped, they both knew what she meant.

She sighed and put her head on his shoulder. "I wish things could just be simpler." She said.

"I wish everything wasn't so complicated. Simple is boring, but things are just too complicated." He said.

"You've grown up." She said.

Ezra laughed. "Just know I will always be here for you. You will always have my heart."

"Me too." She said before pulling him into a kiss.

Life would have been perfect, if only Kanan could have been there. But then things wouldn't have happened. Sabine would never have been trained in the ways of the force, and they would have never fallen in love. Ezra shook his head. But which timeline would he choose. "You would choose me." Sabine whispered.

"I would. I do." Ezra whispered back before drifting off to sleep.

To be clear, Ezra had a moment of clarity. He was like, well I could have Kanan, or Sabine's love. And then he chose Sabine.

Like major, "AWWWWWWWWWW!!" moment. But poor Kanan....
