SIDDHARTH'S POV
Something was wrong with me. My entire body was aching like it hadn't before. Even though the heat was on, I felt shivers going down my spine.
Avneet was sleeping like a baby next to me. I wasn't sure if I should have woken her up. The correct answer was yes.
She was my domme. It was her duty to look after me, and she would only be able to do so when I'd share my problem with her.
But she was also my wife. And she was tired.
Would I want her to wake me up if she were in my situation? Yes.
Then didn't she deserve the same honesty from me? She did.
Decision made, I shook her.
"Avneet," I called.
"What happened?" She asked groggily, her eyes heavy with sleep.
"I don't feel good. Something's wrong," I told her.
She was instantly on high alert.
"Do you feel any unusual pain?" She asked.
"Yes. My entire body hurts. I also feel cold. And a headache is coming," I quote my symptoms.
She blinked a few times, as if this wasn't what she expected me to say. Then she placed her palm on my forehead.
"You're coming down with a fever," she said.
She increased the heat and brought a thermometer to put in my mouth. While I checked my fever, she pulled another blanket from the cupboard and draped it over me.
From the medicine drawer, she produced paracetamol and vicks. Then she pulled the thermometer from my mouth and checked the temperature.
"Shit," she grumbled.
"How much?" I asked.
"102."
"Shit indeed."
"Wait for me. I'll make soup for you. Medicine shouldn't be taken on an empty stomach," she said, already in action.
"I ate dinner."
"That was 7 hours ago," she replied.
I blinked. Then I looked at the clock. 3 a.m. And we had dinner at 8 p.m. Yeah, it had been that much time.
"Just give me a banana," I offered.
"No," she scowled.
"It's late. You can't make soup now," I argued.
"Watch me," she challenged.
"Avneet," I said flatly.
"Soup will help bring down fever and prevent sore throats when you wake up tomorrow. Banana wouldn't do that," she narrated.
"Okay ma'am." I knew it would be futile to argue further, so I gave up.
"Apply vicks to your nose, throat, and chest in the meantime," she said and left.
Twenty minutes later, she brought the soup. She helped me sit up. My headache was getting worse. The shivers were better, though. She brought a spoonful to my mouth, and I drank it.
Avneet might not be a very good cook, but she prepares exceptionally good soup. I drank the whole bowl and felt some strength returning to my body. She padded my lips with a towel.
"Thank you."
She smiled and gave me a glass of warm water to take the medicine. Avneet came beside me, and I placed my head on her shoulder. We sat like that for a while.
