SIDDHARTH'S POV

"Do you want this one?" I ask Avneet pointing to a Black Forest pastry.

"No," she refuses.

"Truffle?"

"I'm not in the mood for chocolate."

"Butterscotch? Red velvet?" I press.

"No," she yells and glares at me.

I shut up and stand at the side, letting her decide for herself.

"I want rainbow cake," she finally says.

The young girl on the other side of the display refrigerator smiles politely.

"Sure ma'am."

She puts a huge piece on the plate and pushes it towards us. I move to take the plate but Avneet reaches it first.

"Don't touch my pastry," she retorts.

I chuckle.

"I wasn't gonna eat it you know," I say, raising a brow.

She knows of course. I don't eat sweets. My abs and perfect body don't do well with them. The only time I eat deserts is when Avneet forces me to. And today is not the day.

We take seats near the window and she dives into her cake. A disappointed expression forms on her face.

"I don't like it," she remarks.

"Let's get something else, then," I suggest.

Tears fill her eyes and I grow concerned. I quickly move to her side and engulf her in a hug.

"What's wrong baby?" I ask pressing her head in my chest.

"I can't decide what I want to eat," she sniffs.

"Nobody's rushing you, baby. We have all the time in the world."

"We don't. They have other customers to serve."

"Don't worry babe," I assure her.

With my handkerchief, I wipe her tears.

"I must look so ugly right now," she says collecting herself. The momentary weakness now gone.

"Who knows? I'm blind. I see you as nothing but pretty."

"I probably have snort on my face," she rolls her eyes.

"Maybe," I tease.

She brings my arm to her face and wipes her snort on my sleeve.

"Ewww Avneet," I drawl, pulling back and we both laugh like kids. "You're crazy," I tell her, to which she only winks.

At the counter, Avneet points at all the beautiful-looking cakes and pastries. They pack one piece of each and I pay the bill.

As we walk out of the bakery to the town square, we see a crowd gathered in the right corner. Avneet tries to get on her tiptoes by my side to see the cause of the commotion. It was futile. I have 5 inches on her, yet I can't see it.

We walk in that direction, making our way in between the bodies. A man and a woman sit on two separate chairs. The man has a white pack around his stomach and the woman seems to have the remote control to it. The woman presses a button and the man growls in pain.

The posters behind them come into view. PERIOD CRAMPS AWARENESS CAMP- they say. And something I had heard a few days ago flashes in my mind. Some women are doing drives across the states, trying to aware the men of the intensity of period cramps.
