✩°。 ⋆⸜ 🎧✮"Okay, she's sort of shy." I hear Malia telling the four members of the band from the other room in Tom's house. Him and I are already sat at his dining room table. "Not shy shy. But...sorta. So be nice, don't make her uncomfortable. Louis, try to talk normally."
"I can't help my accent!"
I bite my lip at the awkwardness and watch Tom roll his eyes and yell to them. "You're making it worse!"
"It's fine-" I start to tell him before I get cut off by some of the male voices outside of the room.
"I told you!"
"You're such a prick!"
"What?!
I purse my lips as Tom stands up, muttering a quick apology to me, and goes to the doorway. A second later, he's dragging who I know to be Chris Greene by the ear with the others following.
"Chris, Louis, Theo, Paul - this is Priscilla Jacobs. Priscilla, this is Chris, Louis, Theo and Paul."
"Hi." I nod to them all and smile at Malia as she comes to sit next to me.
"Hey!" Theo says, moving to kneel next to my chair. "Nice to meet ya! Don't ditch us like our last photographer, please. We can't handle more of Tom's depression and threats."
"Theo! Fucking shut up!" Malia yells from next to me, making me jump a bit. "He's very sarcastic and, as you can see, uses it with the wrong people."
She glares at him and Tom scoffs as he sits next to me again when Theo is out of the way.
"When have I threatened any of you?"
The five other people in the room just stare at him.
"Is that supposed to be a joke..?" Chris asks slowly and Tom glares at him, not saying anything back.
The seven of us talk for a while and I actually end up feeling pretty okay. They're good people and are just so comfortable with themselves and one another. And me.
They're so comfortable that about an hour and twenty minutes after meeting them, Louis is asking me some concerning would you rather questions to fill up time.
"Lou, leave her alone." Tom exasperatedly says from next to me but he laughs a little at the last question he asked me.
Louis just shrugs and turns to Theo but not without nodding at me with a gagging gesture to Tom which only makes me laugh more.
"You're like a disappointed mother." I turn to the singer.
"What?" He scoffs with amusement.
"You keep telling them off and stuff. It's funny."
"We're worse on the road, so get ready for that." He nudges my arm playfully with a raise of his eyebrows. Then he just looks at me for a moment. "You're not much different from school. Well, from what I've seen."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't take offence to this, but you were always quiet. I mean, in English and Art, the only person I ever saw you speaking to was me."
I shrug. "So?"
Tom shrugs back, twisting one of his rings around his finger. "So I think you're still like that. From what I've heard, you have one friend that you don't even like."
I mentally cringe.
"It's pathetic, I know."
Tom's eyes widen and he holds a hand out as if to stop my train of thought. "No! It's fine! Well, it's fine if you're happy. If you're doing something and you're happy then no one can say it's pathetic."
I scoff. "I'm not happy with her. But my life as it is right now is just fine for me."
"It's about to change. Massively."
"Really?"
How much can it actually change? I'm not going to be performing with him or anything. Just taking photos.
"Really. My last photographer, Luke, got just as much publicity as the rest of the band."
I hum, tilting my head as I think about it.
"You'll be better than Luke. You're very likeable."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Mhm. And pretty." His lips curl into the slightest smirk when he says it. "People love an angel."
