Star and Flame ( livia x Arachne)

Prologue: livia cardew

Livia POV

7 year old Livia screamed as she heard the rebel bombs go off seemingly closer to her house, her parents had gone out because her father said that they were summoned and had left her all alone

'Why is this happening?' Livia thought to herself as she sat curled up in the basement her head buried against her knees
She tried to go to sleep but couldn't no matter how hard she tried

Her parents had been gone for hours, where were they?, did the rebels get them?, were they coming for her?, these thoughts only served to make livia sob more to herself

Livia had no idea what time it was before she heard the door to the basement open and footsteps getting closer to her, livia was afraid she thought it was the rebels till a familiar voice said "it's us little star" the voice of her father spoke and livia let out the breath she was holding in relief her mommy and daddy were back

Her father had come to where she was and hugged her and she hugged back as tight as she could 'maybe if I don't let go he won't leave again'
Livia thought

Livia heard voices upstairs and so she asked her dad in a trembling voice
"W-who's that daddy?"

Her dad ended the hug so he could look her in the eyes and answered her
"Sweetheart we brought some people over remember the cranes?, they're our friends "

Livia nodded as she remembered her father and mother talk about the cranes

Her father continued saying that the cranes were going to be stay for the duration of the war and he also told her with sadness in his voice the they had lost their son who was only 8 years old as he had starved to death and so that only left them with their daughter

"Your mother and I won't be seeing you for a while we have orders from the president to stay at his mansion so-

Livia cut her dad off screaming "NO DADDY PLEASE DON'T GO PLEASE!!, DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" .And she wrapped herself around her dad tightly while crying  thinking that if she did her father wouldn't leave

Her dad hugged her back and told her that the war would be over soon and when livia asks if he'll buy her pretty dresses her father said he'll buy all the pretty dresses she wants

"And you won't be alone you'll have the cranes daughter Arachne to keep you company"

'Arachne, that must be the daughter'
Livia wasn't happy about her parents leaving but at least she'll have someone to keep her company

It was then that her father took her hand and led her back upstairs and out of the basement and into the living room where her mother and two other adults were standing next to the door to conversing and on the couch sat a girl her age
She had dirty blond hair and was wearing a pair of tattered jeans and shirt and a worn out coat that looked like it hadn't been washed in days

This must be Arachne

"Hi" livia said to the girl on the couch who stood up and turned and looked at her when she entered and it was clear the she had been crying
Tear tracks stained the girls face and her brown eyes shone with barely concealed tears and livia soon found herself walking over and hugging the girl who then hugged her back who then started silently crying into her shoulder

They stayed like that for what seemed like hours but was only a minute before their parents got their attentions telling them that they would be gone for a while and that when they got back the war would be over and after her father and mother kissed her good bye her parents along with the cranes left and livia and Arachne were alone

Both girls sat shoulder to shoulder on the couch

"I'm sorry about your brother"
Livia whispered to Arachne and she looked at her and livia brought her into another hug

"Thank you"- Arachne said muffled

The two girls stayed like that for a few hours and for some reason livia found it easier to sleep when she wasn't alone and so she fell asleep in arachne's arms.
