Chase stayed awake all evening, trying to distract himself from his thoughts, but the infiltrating noises made it difficult. He heard someone tossing and turning in the room to his right. In the left room, someone was talking quietly. In the room in front, a dog kept repeating a name. He heard a person walking down the corridor, and then he became aware of birds chirping. He didn't close his eyes, and he didn't sleep a wink. The nurse from yesterday entered through the door, smiled at Chase, and approached.

Sharlot: I see you're awake. Your daily schedule...

When she finished, Chase just nodded and stood up to follow the nurse. The first stop was the dining room where he had breakfast. After breakfast, there was a morning exercise, followed by a group session. Then there was an hour break, followed by lunch. After lunch, there was another free session. Next was another group session, followed by a private conversation where a psychologist asked Chase about his past. Finally, there was dinner and still half an hour of free time before bedtime. These routines repeated every day, and Chase was getting used to them.

During one of the morning breaks, while sitting in the courtyard, another dog approached him.

Max: Hey, I'm Max. How long have you been here?

Chase: Hi, I'm Chase. Almost a month. And you?

Max: Oh, just two weeks. Why were you brought in?

Chase: I lost someone I can't forget. I lost the love of my life.

Max: I'd say I'm sorry, but that doesn't help much. Are you doing better since you got here?

Chase: I think so. I can sleep at night now, and I think about her less. But I'm not entirely sure. How about you? Why are you here?

Max: Well, I hear voices. In my head. No one else hears them, just me. And they always told me to kill myself. They wouldn't let me rest. When I tried, my owner decided I needed help. But I still hear the voices. I can't handle them. They ask me to do it, to kill myself. And not just any way. The more cruel, the more painful.

Chase just sat there silently, listening to Max's story. Max told him what the voices initially said, how to end his life. Chase shuddered just at the thought of pain. He couldn't believe they were dealing with his minor issues when there were more severe cases. He started feeling like a burden.

Chase: That's terrible. I'd like to talk more, but I have to go.

Max: Yeah, the schedule. I need to hurry too. We had a good talk. Bye!

Chase: Goodbye.

With that, Chase headed towards the dining room. After lunch, he went to his room and lay down to contemplate his thoughts. He enjoyed dedicating this break to his thoughts, which initially revolved around Skye. Now, he thought about many other things, such as when he would get out of here or if the team missed him. However, he found himself thinking about Skye again and the many beautiful times they had spent together. A small smile crossed his face. He was beginning to realize that thinking about the good things didn't hurt as much.

The break quickly passed, and it was time for the group session. It wasn't his favorite, but it went by quickly. Then came the private conversation.

Psychologist: You're punctual as always. How are you?

Chase: Good. Getting better.

Psychologist: I'm glad to hear that.

This marked the beginning of a lengthy conversation. This session was the one Chase enjoyed the most. Here, he could open up and express everything he felt. Afterward, he always felt liberated and calm. It was the highlight of his day. Dinner followed. After dinner, like every day, he went to his room and lay down. Even though he had half an hour left, he preferred to stay in bed and think. Sometimes he fell asleep quickly, but there were times when he hardly slept at all. Tonight, sleep quickly overcame him, bringing an end to the day.
