I groaned softly as it hit 7am, and I rubbed my eyes softly. I looked around my room and was about to get up to get dressed, but I was brought back down by a notification on my phone. I opened it, seeing a message from the band group chat.
Shinobu: morning guys!!
I smiled softly at the message and replied with 'gm' before putting my phone down and finding some clothes to wear. I grabbed my binder and put it on, along with a grey jumper and dark blue baggy jeans.
I headed downstairs, only to be met by Urokodaki, making breakfast. I smiled softly, and he set a plate of food out for me. Despite my initial reluctance to eat, I decided to eat since he put in the effort to make it.
I looked down at the plate Urokodaki had set out for me, feeling a mix of relief and trepidation. On one hand, I appreciated Urokodaki's gesture, it felt nice to be taken care of for once. On the other hand, I knew that accepting the plate of food would mean accepting the conversation that would inevitably follow. Still, I decided to set aside my worries and enjoy the meal.
As soon as I was done eating, Urokodaki cleared away the dishes and began to clean the kitchen. As I walked into the kitchen, Urokodaki suggested to me, "Hey, Giyuu! I was thinking, why don't you and the rest of the band have a sleepover sometime?"
I hesitated before answering, "I don't know if everyone would be up for it."
Urokodaki smiled, "Well, there's only one way to find out. Why don't you ask them today?"
I nodded, grateful for Urokodaki's encouraging words. "I'll do that," I said, heading out the door to catch the bus to school. As I made my way to the music room, I couldn't help but feel hopeful that my friends would be up for a sleepover.
However, that would mean they could see how badly FFI affected me. But then again, it was a sleepover. You weren't really meant to sleep. I tried to push these thoughts to the back of my mind, and then opened the door to the band room.
The day at school went on as normal. We practised some songs, worked on lyrics for said songs, and just generally hung out.
Surprisingly, Urokodaki's suggestion to have a sleepover had been an amazing idea, and I couldn't help but feel excited at the thought of spending the night with the band. When we got home from school, we all instantly went into the soundproof recording room, which had 2 large couches, a large TV, and a bunch of snacks too.
We spent the evening listening to music, playing games, and telling scary stories. It was a night I'd never forget. Our laughter filled the room, and it felt like nothing else mattered in the world except the moment we were all sharing together.
Shinobu left the room to get a drink from the kitchen, and I glanced over at her as she left. The others were all talking loudly to each other, but I still managed to hear a quiet gasp. Fidgeting with my hands, I told the group I was going to get a drink as well, and I walked into the kitchen, closing the door behind me.
I looked at Shinobu, and she pointed at some medical files in her hand. "Giyuu.. when.."
I tensed up but tried to keep the atmosphere light. "You know it's not nice to snoop through people's things, right?"
"I didn't. It fell on the floor. And then I saw your name, and then.. FFI. Giyuu, when were you going to tell us? Were you going to tell us?" She questioned. Her hands were visibly shaking.
"Shinobu, I'm sorry. I- I was going to tell you guys, I swear. I just.. couldn't find the time."
"Giyuu. You just turned 18. And you're going to.. to.." She trailed off.
"To die." I finished, looking at the floor. "I know. I should've said earlier, but I don't want to be a burden, Shinobu."
"You wouldn't be a burden, you stupid- gah, never mind. You should've told us!"
"I still have ages!"
"You can die anytime from 6-36 months!"
"That's ages -"
"That's maximum 3 years, Giyuu. That's not ages.. I don't want to lose you.."
"I'm sorry." Was all I managed to get out.
Shinobu put the files back where they were and sighed."Just do me a favour. Tell them." She said.
I stared at the floor. "Not now.."
"Soon?"
"...Soon."
"Promise?"
I hesitated but then sighed. "Promise."
She then held her hand out to me, signalling for a pinky promise. While I did roll my eyes, I went along with it, crossing my finger with hers.
"You are a child."
She laughed at that statement. "Whatever you say. We should probably head back to the others, though.." She said as she glanced to the room where everyone else was.Haha. okay IM SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG BRO
