ON THE WAY HOME, Lucy's mind was traveling as fast as a lion does when chasing its prey. She didn't want this to sound bad, but Sarah didn't help. She thought it would. But it didn't.

She needed someone else to talk to. But there truly was nobody else. And she couldn't even imagine going home after what she caught her dad doing.

Deep down inside Lucy, she couldn't imagine her father actually doing that to Jessica. Even if he didn't pay too much attention to her and constantly brought her down, he wouldn't be so heartless to cheat? Would he?

Lucy didn't know what to think. She wished she was God in this moment. Because if she were God, she'd make her father love her mother uncontrollably and never cheat. If she were God everyone would be happy. But of course, God couldn't make a sixteen year old girl God. That was foolish.

But the main reason she wasn't truly a believer like her mother, was not because she thought God didn't exist, she just didn't understand him. She didn't understand how he could allow everyone to suffer and get tempted by the devil. She didn't understand how he could just sit there up in the sky and watch everyone cry themselves to sleep, argue, kill themselves, get raped, get abused and so much worse.

But Lucy knew God didn't want it to be easy to believe in him. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. And God made no mistakes. God wanted humans to know as much as they know. But Lucy was still frustrated by the lack of information he gave. And half of it she didn't even was true!

The Bible was changed multiple times, maybe someone mixed something up, maybe the Bible wasn't even based on real stories from Jesus and God themselves! Lucy didn't know what to believe. Maybe one day, when she gets to Heaven, or maybe she should say if she gets to Heaven, God will tell her all the answers that her mini heart desired.

Once she arrived home it was raining heavily, making practically all her makeup wash off within seconds as the cloth that covered her body became soaked with water.

She entered the home and saw Jessica, her mom, sitting down on the couch, her head in her hands. She eyed the house, seeing it thrashed. "Mom? What happened?" Lucy asked the woman, a part of her afraid of the answer.

Jessica looked up at her daughter and that's when Lucy saw the mascara streaks down her cheeks, her puffy undereyes. "Umm..you won't be seeing your father for awhile" She told Lucy.

Lucy licked her lips. "Mom, what happened?" She asked, more demanding this time, desperate for answers.

Jessica stood up. "Umm..your father, is having an affair with his co-worker, and they, left to go get married. Your father divorced me tonight" Jessica explained as thunder rumbled.

Lucy ran over to her mother, hugging her as she sobbed In her arms. Despite how cold Lucy was from her wet clothes, Jessica still sobbed in her daughters arms.

She had given her heart to Frank, her innocence, her life, she had given him a beautiful daughter. And he still left. Parts of Jessica didn't even know why God allowed this. Why God couldn't have given her a sign that he wasn't the one.

That night was filled with tears and sadness.

The next morning, Lucy had woken up early, six AM on the dot to clean the home so her mom wouldn't have woken up even more stressed then she already was.

She sweeped up all the ripped up photos of Frank and Jessica together, throwing them into the trash, knowing they couldn't be prepared. She picked up all the glass and stopped when she found the necklace Jessica wore everyday. It was a gold necklace with a cross.

She never took it off. Ever. She grabbed it and put it into her pocket where it was safe before cleaning the rest of the house.

She did the dishes, sweeped the floor, dusted the blinds, wiped the counters, and lastly, made Jessica breakfast.
