"YOU'VE GOTTA BE fucking kidding me!?" Lucy stormed down the stairs and opened the front door. "You have to be stupid to come here"

"Look, I'm sorry-" Rafe started.

Lucy scoffed. "It's always im sorry, I'll change, I'll do better, I don't deserve you. But I'm not seeing any change here, Rafe. All I'm hearing are words. I'm not seeing anything. Just...leave me alone"

Rafe slightly shook his head. "This is too soon. You still need time to cool off"

"No. I need this all to stop. This relationship. It's not working." Lucy spoke.

"No, no, no. Lucy, baby, don't do this. I love you. I love you so much. I fucked up, I know. I fucked up bad. But I'll get clean and...and I'll fucking drop Kelce if you want me to. I'll do anything for you." Rafe said, he practically begged, on his knees.

Lucy's heart warmed. Lucy's brain was screaming at her to slam the door and end it. But she felt her dropping to her knees and cupping Rafe's cheeks, looking deep into his blueish green eyes. "I won't leave. I love you." She whispered before placing a kiss on his cheek.

Rafe smiled before kissing her lips, tasting her cherry chapstick as his hand went into her hair.

Lucy couldn't leave him. She loved him too much. The girl's heart couldn't stand to lose him.

She invited him into the house and he apologized about seven times, saving he overreacted and he was drunk from the alcohol Scarlett gave him and he wasn't thinking.

Blaming Scarlett. Blaming anyone else but himself.

Lucy didn't say anything about him not taking responsibility, again. Because she wanted to try and give their relationship one last try. To latch onto the rope as she played tug-of-war with fate. Pulling onto their relationship as her skin started to peel off from how strong she was pulling on the rope, knowing if she let go of the rope, it'll all be over.

They were in her bed now, her head on his chest as he stoked her hair, mumbling 'I love you' and 'I'm sorry's as he often did after an argument.

Lucy fell asleep in his arms.

"Rafe! Please! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She screamed as Rafe kept shouting while knocking glasses off the counters and onto the floor as glass shatters all over the ground.

Rafe runs to her, his eyes dark as he slaps her before choking the girl. His face seemed to have no regret, no remorse.

The girl felt fear, latching onto hope, wondering if this would be the day she'd die and how she could love such a monster.

"P-please" She begged. She didn't wanna die. She wanted to live. She wanted to go to midsummers, to go to prom, to graduate, to go to college, to get married and get a job, to have a few kids and a house, to schedule birthday parties and kiss her children goodnight.

She didn't wanna keep fixing her makeup, wiping off the masscra that he ruined. She didn't wanna keep not seeing herself in the reflection. She didn't wanna keep writing about him in her journal, every page. She didn't wanna keep covering the bruises, covering the tears. Like a doll. Like a puppet on a string. Fake.

Rafe gripped his hand around her neck as he let out a grunt. He was so angry. Lucy felt a tear go down to his hand as she realized she'd never go to Midsummers, she'd never go to prom, she'd never graduate, she'd never go to college, she'd never get married and work. She'd never get a few kids and schedule birthday parties and kiss her children goodnight.
