Magnus's POV:

I was standing in the entrance to the arena when I heard footsteps coming up from behind me. It was just after dad finished his speech when Hiccup and Astrid came up to me.

"What are you going to do?" Astrid asked, worried about me.

"Put an end to this." I replied, "I'm going to show them the truth about dragons. I have to try. Astrid, Hiccup, promise me that if anything goes wrong, you'll take care of Stormstryker."

"We promise, just promise us that nothing will go wrong, dragon boy." Embla says, coming up from behind my brother and his crush.

Before I could answer, Gobber comes up, "It's time, Magnus, nock 'em dead." He tells me.

I slowly walk out and put my helmet on. Then, I walk up to the weapons board and grab a shield and a small dagger. With my sensitive hearing, which I acquired a couple of days ago, I hear dad say, "I would've gone for the hammer."

'I'm ready." I say. The bolt locking the Monstress Nightmare's cage lifts up, and after a moment, said dragon storms out of his containment.

He then notices me from the top of the netting on the arena, and he drops down. "Why aren't you running? And why do you smell like a dragon." The Nightmare asked me before he noticed my weapons and started to snarl at them.

"It's okay, it's okay." I say, dropping my dagger and shield. I look up at dad when I say this next part. I take my hat off and throw it to the ground. "I'm not one of them." I then reach my hand out and keep eye contact with the Nightmare.

"Stop the fight." My dad says.

"No! I need you all to see this." I say back, "They aren't what we think they are. We don't have to kill them."

"I said 'STOP THE FIGHT!!'" Dad roars, and I flinch at the loud sound.

"LIER!" The Nightmare roars and almost bites my hand off. I then start to run around the arena, screaming.

"Magnus," I hear Stormstryker cry out once he gets to the arena.

"Storm! No!" I scream to him. "Go! Before they spot you!"

"I'm not leaving you!" Stubborn dragon.

"I'll be fine! Go!"

"Fine." Then I hear him take off before the dust clears.

"Lightning fury." I heard Gobber mutter. I looked at myself to see that I'm covered in electric blue scales. I also notice that I'm lower to the ground, and I have wings that are covered in red, lightning-shaped vains covering them.

Oh, great. I thought sarcastically. Then a thought comes to mind... how did I become a Lightning Fury? And most importantly, how do I become human again?!

"What have you done with my son?!" Dad booms at me, not knowing it's me. "Put it with the others. Hiccup, lets go."

I growled at the Vikings that started to approach me. "Come any closer and I'll electrocute you to ash." I growled as I felt a shocking feeling building in my throat. Then I felt the weight of a Viking push my mouth shut. Then the same weight pushed down on my back, wings, legs, and finally tail. I could feel myself as I slipped into an unconscious state.

Hiccup's POV:

As I was dragged out of the arena, I couldn't help but look back at Stormstryker, who was now unconscious, and winced. After a few moments of me being dragged to the Meade Hall, dad throws me down and slams the door behind him with it bouncing back open from the force.

"I should have known. I should have seen the signs." Dad muttered, "And Magnus is one of them because of it."

I looked at him, confused. "What do you mean 'one of them?'" I asked.

He turned to me with seriousness written all of his face. "That Lightning Fury in the arena was Magnus." Dad said to me, "It's one of his abilities as the destined hybrid." And I could hear a snarl in his voice and think back to Magnus's outburst when Astrid snapped at me.

"You have that same snarl he had just less than a week ago." I muttered to myself, piecing it together. Dad looked at me, confused. "The second day of training, after the session, Astrid snapped at me. He said these exact words, 'No! I've had enough of you, and everyone blame you're mistakes on me and my brother. No one is perfect. Not you, not anyone! So, if you want to blame your mistakes on us, fine. But next time you do, know that it'll be more than me giving you a lecture. And that goes for everyone in this village. Am I clear?' And when she went to say that they were actually our mistakes, he repeated the 'am I clear.' We all could hear a snarl in his voice, the same snarl you have when you're angry. A non-human snarl. A dragon snarl. Dad, did you lie when you told me that story? Did you?!"

"Yes." He admitted, knowing that he couldn't win. "But I had to in order to keep my secret."

"Fine, but take your anger out on me. Just don't hurt Magnus." I said to him, getting over my shock.

"That's who you're worried about?!" He said, also out of his shocked state. "Not the people who could have been killed?!"

"It was his instincts to protect himself!" I replied, my voice starting to rise. "That's all they do. They raid us because they have to. If they don't bring back enough food, they'll be eaten themselves. Dad there something on their island-"

"Their island?!" Dad boomed, and I froze. "How did you find it?!?"

"I didn't our dragons did." I said then instantly regrated it. I could see the idea forming on his facial features. "Oh, no, dad. Stop. It's like nothing you've seen."

I get nothing in response. "Dad, you can't win this one! You'll be killed! FOR ONCE IN YOU'RE LIFE, DAD, WOULD YOU PLEASE JUST LISTEN TO ME?!?!?" I yelled at the top of my lungs.

I started to tug on him when I was in my yelling frenzy, and he shook me off him with no effort at all. "You've thrown your lot in with them. You're not a Viking." My eyes widened at what he was saying. "You're not my son." I could hear the snarl in his voice. He wasn't even trying to hide it. And after those words were processed in my mind, he stormed out of the hall, slamming the door again on his way out.

A/N: I'm sorry for the late update. With school, it's been difficult for me to update on the weekdays, so I'll be writing on the weekends. This way I don't have to worry about it while I'm at school. I also want to thank everyone who has read this story so far.  Getting this many reads encourages me. You all don't know how happy I am that so many people appreciate my work. Also, please, don't be afraid to leave a comment. If there is something in this story that you don't like, message me or leave a comment. This book is going to be the first book in this series. I'll also need help on coming up with a name for this series. Any suggestions, leave them in the comments. The one that me and the other author like the most will be picked, and whoever left that suggestion will be given a shout out. Also, while you're doing that, what type of dragon should I give Embla in this series? I honestly don't know what to do for those two things, so I'm leaving it to you all.
