Chapter 11 - Christy

"Tina and I just convinced Christy that you were straight out of a mental hospital," Kat said between snorts. Normally, I catch on when people are trying to mess with me. But when Tina started saying things, I started believing it. She didn't have any tells that she was pulling my leg. She's very pretty, seems to be quirky and smart as well. I liked her for Jimmy from the moment I saw her. I don't know how much he told her about himself so I tried to build him up as much as I could. He's a very humble guy and doesn't talk about himself much. But when you practically live with someone, you get to learn a lot about them.

"Seriously? You guys were messing with me the whole time?" I frowned. "Well, looks like it's going to be a cold night for you," I said to Kat.

"Aww. Don't be mad love. We were just having fun," Kat said smiling. "I like her so far Jimmy. She seems nice."

"And she's really pretty!" I chimed in. "I like her, too."

"Well thank you both. I told you she was breathtaking. And I knew she'd get along with you two after I had my interview," Jimmy said smiling and placing our bowls in front of us. "Now, try this and tell me if this isn't the best stuff you've ever had."

Kat and I looked at each other nervously. "Are you ready to try this?" she asked. I looked at her. Her brown hair pulled back into a ponytail with some bangs pulled out and dangling near her green eyes. She was so gorgeous five-foot-nine-inches, the body of an athlete, thin, prominent cheek bones, voluptuous lips, and hair a little past her shoulders.

"I'm ready if you are," I told her. We both picked up our spoons. Looked at each other, preparing ourselves for what was about to happen. "No matter what happens, we had a lot of fun together."

"I wouldn't trade it for the world Chris," Kat replied.

"Oh my gosh!! Just take a bite. It's not going to kill you," Jimmy said.

We both plunged our spoons into the opaque red fluid, filling our spoons with some noodles, cheese and broth. Brought them up to our mouths, it smelled very good (but that could be something in the back, I mean we are in a restaurant), blew for a few seconds, and shaking from nervousness as well as excitement. I closed my eyes, put the spoon in my mouth, dragged it across the top of my lip so I got all of the broth. Chewed on the noodles and cheese, tasted the broth, and swallowed. Instantly, my eyes flew open. Kat was looking at me as well, we both knew in that moment just what Jimmy was trying to make. This soup he made was absolutely amazing. We both plunged deep into our food. No wonder so many people ordered it last night. Once it hit your lips, you wanted to have more of it.

Jimmy laughed at both of us. "I take it you girls like it?" I looked at him long enough to nod my head then go back to eating.

Tina strolled up at this point, "How do you guys like it?" I simply smiled with food in my mouth. She laughed at my smile.

"They seem to be liking it. And it seems I didn't put enough poison in their food. Perhaps I'll put more next time around," Jimmy teased.

"Be sure to use the more potent stuff. It's right next to the sage." Tina joked. They both walked away to let us eat in peace. We both finished up our soup and sat for a few minutes, letting it digest.

"I want some more," I told Kat.

"Me too. We will have Jimmy make us more of that this weekend. But for now, I say we have some food," Kat said. "What sounds good to you?"

"I think I'd like some chicken, or steak, or lasagna...or maybe a brownie..."

Kat laughed, "You're always in the mood for sweets. I figured I was sweet enough for you."

"I'm sorry honey, but you know this is how it is." I gave her a serious look and began listing, "My first love is and always will be sweets. You're a close second!"

She smiled at me. "I know, and I wouldn't ever try to get between you and them, ever. I'm just happy you saved some room for me in your heart next to cheesecake and brownies."

"Oh! Looks like I came back right on time!" Tina showed up just then. "Sounds like you two want some dessert." She smiled.

"Oooh...I could always go for dessert!" I exclaimed. "But I think I'm still hungry."

"I'm sorry Tina, but can we get steak fettuccini alfredo for Christy?" Kat said. I turned and looked at her. How'd she remember that was my favorite dish? I told her that once before we were officially dating. She looked at me and smiled.

"Alright, and how about you? Some more gruel?" Tina asked.

"I think I'll just share with Chris. She's gotta save room for the cookies," Kat said.

"Oh my gosh!! The cookies! Can we get those before we go see Jen and Aubs?" I asked.

Kat smiled. "Of course we can. I'm excited to meet your new sister."

"New sister?" Tina asked. "I don't think she's allowed to have cookies."

"Oh no, don't worry, she's fourteen. I got her today!" I replied to Tina.

"Ok wait. You got a new sister today? Oh, your parents adopted her?"

"Well no...I picked her up at the mall and as Jen put it I 'kidnapped her, tortured her with wax, and a big guy in white molested her till she fell asleep.' Then I took her to my parent's house and now they have her," I said cheerily.

"You. Uhh. Hmm," Tina replied. Her face made several changes trying to put a square peg in a circle hole, "I think I need to sit down."

Kat laughed aloud. "By all means take a seat for a second and she'll tell you the story."

"I....hmm." She looked around for a second, "Well. It is kind of slow right now. Hold on. Let me get the treats for you guys then I'll be right back," Tina said walking away.

"Can you grab Jimmy, too? He'll certainly want to hear this." Tina nodded to Kat and walked off.

I looked at Kat confused. "Why do you think she needs to hear the whole story?"

"Chris. Honey. Think about what you said to her."

I sat for a few seconds taking in what I said. Then it hit me, "Ohhhh... Yeah...it did sound a little wrong," I said with a pinched face.

Just then, Tina and Jimmy came back with two chocolate sundaes with whipped cream and a couple of cherries each. I felt drool start forming at the corner of my mouth. "Ooohhh Yeeeeeaaaahh... You just made my favorite sweets list."

Jimmy laughed, "You should feel honored Tina, only the elite make that list."

"I do feel honored," Tina smiled as she pulled out two spoons.

"I'll only have a few bites," Kat said and held her hand up to the offered spoon. Tina looked a little confused. Kat smiled and said, "You'll see why in a second."

I proceeded to tell the story to Tina and Jimmy while eating my sundae. About halfway through, I realized I finished my sundae and wanted more. Just then Kat slid hers over to me, looked at Tina, and winked. Tina smiled back and kept listening intently. I proceeded on with the story leaving out no details. At the end of the story, I took the last bite of chocolate and sat back. Tina and Jimmy sat there for a second quietly.

"Well," Tina said, "Now what you said certainly makes a lot more sense to me."

"Why? What'd she say to you?" Jimmy asked.

"She said 'I kidnapped her from the mall, tortured her with wax, and a big guy in white molested her till she fell asleep.' Then I took her to my parent's house and now they have her."

Immediately Jimmy bawled over laughing, "That sounds like Christy alright," he said, "Alright girls. Do you still want that pasta?"

"Do I ever?! I'm starving!" I said, happy to get my favorite dish.

Tina gawked at me. "Seriously? You just had a bowl of soup, two sundaes and who knows how many other sweets today and you're starving?"

Kat giggled and replied, "That's my girl!"
