The morning sun cast a warm glow over Orange Star High School, its rays dancing through the vibrant autumn leaves that adorned the courtyard. Students bustled about, their voices mingling with the gentle breeze as they made their way to their classrooms.
Kiro navigated through the sea of students, his senses tingling with the unfamiliar sensation of acceptance. Gone were the sidelong glances and whispered rumors; in their place were smiles and friendly greetings. It was disconcerting, to say the least.
As he entered his classroom, Kiro couldn't help but notice the hushed whispers and pointed looks directed his way. A group of students clustered around a tablet, watching footage of the recent invasion with rapt attention. Kiro's heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of himself, fighting alongside his family against the otherworldly invaders.
"Hey, isn't that Kiro?" one of the students exclaimed, pointing at the screen.
Kiro shifted uncomfortably, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. He had never sought fame or recognition; all he wanted was to hone his skills and prove himself in battle.
Ignoring the curious stares, Kiro made a beeline for the rooftop, seeking solace in the company of his friends, Veradin and Buljin. The rooftop offered a panoramic view of the sprawling city below, its skyscrapers stretching towards the heavens like guardians of progress.
Veradin leaned against the railing, his gaze fixed on the horizon. His voice, tinged with a hint of British accent like Vegeta's, cut through the silence. "Seems like you've become quite the celebrity, Kiro."
Kiro scowled, running a hand through his hair. "I don't want this. I never asked to be a hero."
Buljin placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It's not about what you want, Kiro. You have a responsibility now, to protect the world and inspire others."
Veradin nodded in agreement. "Besides, it's not all bad. At least now you'll have some worthy opponents to spar with."
Kiro's scowl deepened. "I don't need anyone's admiration. All I want is to test my limits, to become stronger."
The conversation was interrupted by the sound of the assembly bell, signaling the start of the day's proceedings. The three friends exchanged resigned glances before making their way back inside, the weight of their newfound fame heavy on their shoulders.
The assembly hall buzzed with energy as students and teachers gathered, their faces a mixture of excitement and apprehension. Principal Sharpener, a former student at Orange Star High School and now its esteemed leader, stood at the podium, his presence commanding attention.
"Welcome back, everyone," Principal Sharpener began, his voice echoing through the hall. "As you know, we've faced many challenges in recent days. But thanks to the bravery of our heroes, we stand strong."
The room erupted into applause, the sound reverberating off the walls. Kiro shifted uncomfortably in his seat, feeling the weight of the crowd's expectations.
