Sana turned the key into the door until she heard a soft click. She let herself inside and shut the door behind her. Her weight fell back against it as she took a deep breath, perhaps the first one she had time to take all day.
She blinked a few times, squinting her eyes in an attempt to regain her clear vision back. The dorm was nearly pitch black and combined with the piercing, winter winds which dried out her eyes, her sight seemed to have a hazy filter. The whole day merely passed by in a blur when Sana tried to recall it.
She tiredly kicked off her shoes and made her way through the kitchen to set down her belongings. Sana began to shed away her layers of warmth when she realized that the dorm wasn't completely dark due to a light from the living room.
She approached the illuminated room to find Mina still awake, just barely it seemed like though. The younger girl was seated on the floor by the large coffee table, assembling a Lego set on it.
She hasn't seemed to notice Sana as both of her earbuds were in.
Sana admired her for a moment. She found it absolutely fascinating how Mina could just sit there for hours, keeping the same unmoving position until her project was finished. Even if she had to do so for half a day, Mina would always start and end in one sitting. After all, she hated to leave things unfinished.
The older girl thought everything about Mina was absolutely endearing. To the way she sat, one leg extended and one folded, to the way she even breathed. She loved the delicate raise of Mina's eyebrows which told that she was thinking. She loved the way Mina's eyes sparkled when she completed a small part of the Lego set. She loved Mina's every sniffle, marked by a scrunch of her nose, and each became a moment that Sana cherished. Even the tender sight of Mina's tongue lightly grazing her lips to moisten them mesmerized Sana.
In these simple yet profound moments, Sana couldn't comprehend that Mina was just human. Theoretically, Mina was the same as her. But to Sana, she was so much more. Whenever she looked at Mina, Sana saw her whole world. When they said to leave perfection to the angels, she argued that Mina had to be an angel, because if not then what else?
She hoped that Mina always knew how much she loved her.
Finally, Sana approached Mina's spot. She placed a warm hand onto Mina's shoulder before gently settling herself next to the younger.
It startled the said girl for a moment and she looked at Sana with wide eyes. When she realized it was only Sana, she took out one of her earbuds as a sweet smile pulled at her lips.
She wordlessly gave Sana the small device, which she placed into her own ear so that they could listen together.
"How was work?" Mina softly asked before pecking Sana's lips. She glanced over at the digital clock which read that it was close to 1am.
"It was good." Sana hummed. She scooted closer to Mina's body and rested her head onto her shoulder, burying her face into Mina's black hair. She breathed in the familiar scent of her shampoo.
Sana began to recount her day to Mina, or at least every detail of it that she could remember. To be honest, she was so exhausted that the last 24 hours seemed almost like a fever dream.
When Sana was finished, she realized that Mina was busy fiddling with the small, plastic Lego pieces.
"Hey." She pouted. "Are you even listening, Minari? Look at me." Sana whined as the lack of attention got to her.
