Momo walked despite the light rain that was now present, the neon lights of the few stores that were still open reflecting off the rain coated sidewalk.

She hummed a tune that had been stuck in her head all day, tapping her fingers on her phone that was in hand to the beat. She adjusted the hood of her zip up jacket once again to pull it lower down her face. Momo didn't mind the rain. In fact she quite enjoyed it.

The rain scared everyone from the streets away and there were only a couple other figures who stayed out. The stores were still open though, 24/7 convenience stores rock when it's 1am and Momo is hungry.

A smile pulled at the corner of Momo's mouth when the said store came into view and she walked into the air conditioned building. The same corner dropped though when she saw a girl by herself at the eating counter. She was hunched over and her back rose and fell with uneven sobs.

At first Momo didn't know what to do. She awkwardly walked to the back of the store and stood there. From there she could watch the girl from behind and decide what to do. It would be really awkward just to buy her items and leave but at the same time she couldn't console the girl because she was a stranger.

The girl had light brown hair and a simple grey t-shirt with denim shorts. Momo's eyes wandered down to her pale legs, the soft skin there being marked up with dark bruises all over.

At first Momo couldn't tell because of her crys, but she was shivering. Probably because she was freezing, her hair was dampened from the rain and her clothes were speckled with water. Her outfit did not suit the weather.

Now Momo was sure that she should comfort the girl, even though she didn't know how to. She glanced over at the employee at the counter but he didn't seem to notice or care. A middle aged man using his phone. Ignorant.

Momo carefully walked over to the girl. Her footsteps were light but she purposefully made them audible so the girl wouldn't be startled. The brown haired girl seemed to notice and she sat up, looking down at Momo's Converse in shame almost before lifting her head up to take her in.

Momo pouted when she saw her face. Her cute bangs were wet and the strands of hair stuck to her tear stained face. The skin around her eyes was rubbed red and raw, a result of her wiping away the tears.

She had a little snot running from her nose and her bottom lip was painted red with dried blood from a small cut.

Momo tentatively placed a hand against her shoulder. She felt warm despite her shivering and the sitting girl could only look up at Momo in gratitude.

But the most concerning thing was that she was in this state, alone, at this time of the dark night. After all she looked to only be about Momo's age, probably an underclassman in college.

The girl looked at Momo with hopeful eyes and I guess she saw something good in her because she tackled Momo with a hug, standing up from her chair.

Momo almost lost her balance at this. The girl snaked her arms inside Momo's jacket to be under the warm fabric and she buried her head into the taller girl's neck.

Momo didn't hesitate to reciprocate the hug and wrapped her arms around her. One hand fell into the girl's hair and she ran her fingers through the brown locks to comfort her.
